US Bank Cash+

So, lots of data about the US Bank Cash+ card over the last month including the phone number to call and apply. My plan was to open a checking and/or savings account and wait until this fall or spring of next year to apply. Went online to open the checking account without any hassles. Somehow missed that there was a minimum $25 on the Silver checking account, so after receiving the confirmation e-mail decided to open a money market account also. Could not see how to do that online and called customer service. Talked to a very nice young lady that helped walk me through the process and then it happened.

Once she took another $25 for the MM account she proceeded to tell about the credit cards US Bank had to offer. She took a few minutes to explain the cash rewards cards they had and I listened (not really interested). When she finished I asked if that was the Cash + card she was referring to and she replied yes the Cash + VS card. I told her that I thought you had to apply in a branch (knowing that wasn't true) and she said that I was eligible and she would be glad to take my app right now. We discussed credit scores and inquiries and that I didn't was unsure of getting approved if I applied to which she replied that if I wasn't approved for the Cash + I would automatically be considered for the Cash Rewards card (not the one I wanted, but supposed I could do a PC later). I debated for a few more minutes and said why not it's only an HP that will stay with me for 2 years. She took the information and came back that it was being sent for manual review and I should know within 7-10 days, but gave me the UW number and thought they would know within an hour (felt like denial to me even though I know they do a manual review on all apps - thanks to the info here).

Called UW later in the afternoon since things got busy and was told it was still under manual review and I should get something in the mail in 7-10 days, but could call back in 2-3 days if I couldn't wait. Fast forward 24 hours and when I called to check the status was told APPROVED for Cash+ VS $7K CL, 0% BT for 9 months, and 16.99% for purchases. They pulled EQ for me and when I checked last week it was at 800 with 3 INQs (highest score and fewest INQs of all 3 CRBs). I know most have said they pull TU, but when I checked the database EQ is what they pull in NC which worked out well for me. Asked about when I could request a higher CL and was told now or 3-6 months from now - of course I had them put in a request, so we will see how that turns out.

Downside is I can do nothing with the account until I receive the card in 7-10 days. Oh well, got the card I wanted and now back in the garden for a long, long time.

Thanks. I can't do anything until I get the card and am able to log on, but I think cellphone and fast food.

And that's what had me very worried. I don't know if it would have helped, but nothing that I was able to read here made me comfortable with my stats before telling the CSR to submit the app.

Well, thanks for the vote of confidence, but I didn't feel at all comforable. Is that APR the norm? I couldn't find any info on that anywhere.

I really have no idea on the APR. The CSR I spoke to was really surprised with the 0% and 16.99% APR, but I couldn't tell if it was genuinely surprised or acting surprised? I really wonder if there's something more to this existing customer + applying over the phone with US Bank.
