My credit score took a hike - UP! (worked hard)

So I figure...now is the time to apply for that new card I want. I cannot, repeat, cannot - stop laughing!!! I applied for the Southwest Rapid Rewards by Chase online. I naturally assumed I'd get the usual....we need further information, you will receive a letter in 7-10 days blurb.

Imagine my utter and complete freak out when it instantly approved WITH A 16K LIMIT!!!!!! OMG that is about 2.5X the amount of unsecured credit I previously had. I want to use other acronyms like WT_ etc. but never, ever, ever, have I had instant approval online, and with such a gargantuan CL!!

LMAO LMAO....this can't be me...I think I must have entered the wrong SS# or something! Ack! LMAO still! Had to tell you guys first!

Should I go on a spree??

Well I did sort of spree - I applied for Amex Blue Preferred and got approved but don't know my CL. Apparently I have to log in after 24 hours.

I applied for Discover IT but got the "we have to look things over" dealio. Wow, I had to upload my SS Card and a utility bill to prove my info. Also, applications can be difficult because I am disabled with two sources of income. They don't have a "Disabled" category, only "Retired" so I think there was a disparity there; they wanted my prior employers phone and I couldn't provide. Regardless, I'm DONE. I don't need anymore cards. Dam, I could buy a used car with the Southwest card.

I applied on behalf of my mom recently and got her Amex BCE... so I can tell you that if you just click on the link to chat with a customer service rep they verify your identity and should tell you your limit then and there. Or call in, either works.

Yes, Amex did pull Experian (733) and the CL is 2000 (just read my email). I'm fine with that! I have heard about the 3x rule for CLI with Amex but need to go over it again. I believe you have to wait 30-60 days.

Don't know about the Discover Card - they may see I "spree'd" and decline; but frankly with the amount of unsecured credit I have now, I DO NOT need anymore! I intend to continue to pay things off as I have been doing, keeping under 10% utilization and "grow little garden, grow".

Thanks to TheConductor (I think that was his name; I'll double check) who steered me away from a signature loan to increase my score to instead paying off my cards and slowly build my savings. What an instant gift!

Without this forum and advice, I promise you I never would have gotten to the 733, 737 and 751 scores. Never. Thanks to one and all!

Okay, Discover just called me and I'm approved for 8.5K. I need some help picking my jaw up from the floor. Today's total 26.5K CL's That is over 3 times the amount I had before today.

For a year and a half I have been obsessed with credit - now that this little 3 card "spree" is over, I feel sort of scared or nervous like some big, bad man in a black suit is going to knock at my door any moment and arrest me!! Guess I'm a little wierd that way.....

Gotta find that "garden" icon.
