To qualify for Ring someday am I better off cancelling or holding 1 of my 3 Barclays accounts?

I presently have 3 Barclaycard accounts.

I would like to someday qualify for the Barclaycard Ring account. I gather that won't be for another year or so.

I have read that Barclays doesn't like to see too many Barclays accounts.

Am I better off (a) closing my least useful Barclays account at this point, or (b) holding it, and trying to do a product change later?

You will want higher scores for the ring.

Hold onto your current cards. After 6 months to year, apply for ring. When approved or denied, call in to analyst from back door number thread, have them move the limit from one card to the other and close. You can even do this if they approve, just day you want a nice balance transfer limit.

If denied, they will move limits over, if you have reached the max internal limit with Barclays as reason for denial. Either way, you have to apply for new card. Then work with recon to make it better,

715 on TU isn't enough?

Mine was 701 when they pulled it. Lol.

Dear Imperfectfuture:

I followed your advice to the letter, and was successful with it.

7 months later I applied for Ring, was turned down, called Recon and offered to transfer another credit limit to a new Ring card, and they approved.

Then I transferred some other credit limits I had with them to the Ring card, and am one happy camper. The Ring is my favorite card, by far.

Congrats! I'm pretty much the same situation as you from March. New accts, plenty of credit with barclays, but they won't move limits around until everything ages.

Exactly Correct! i did this.. i had llbean for 2 years.. then got rewards 6 months later, then got apple rewards 6 months later, all cold apped all approved ... apped for ring was denied.. called was approved only by Moving $$ over from llbean, then sloly but surely, paid down & closed llbean, rewards & Apple.. only have ring @ 8% . best of luck!

I disagree with the person saying you need a 700+ score. I got my ring card with a 608TU score about 3 weeks ago. When I called to recon my denial,I was turned down 2 times. 3rd time was a charm when I demanded to speak to a supervisor. Anything is possible ya know.
