Barclay ring odds?

So I'm trying to pick up the last card that I want which is the Barclay ring. Right now I'm sitting at a 748 TU score with 3 inquiries which are fairly recent. 2 new accounts currently reporting within the last 6 months. My double cash and chase United card are not reporting yet. 6 percent utilization over all my cards. I currently don't have any cards with Barclay so this would be my first. I'm afraid there going to say I have too much credit with other lenders as I have over 50K total and only going to report a 25K income to them. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

TBH the only thing here that's of any concern is your credit to income ratio.

BUT, I still think you have a good chance and the only way to find out for sure is to apply.

IMHO you're absolutely good to go with that TU score.

And as far as I'm concerned it's the best credit card out there; I love having it.

If you happen to get turned down recon it through the backdoor number and ask them to give you a small limit and a chance to prove yourself.

If that doesn't work, wait at least 3 1/2 months -- the longer the better -- and apply again. (The reason I say the longer the better: Barclay actually holds it against you that you have recent inquiries from THEM).

I did submit an app and it went into pending. Not sure if that's just a denial or not. Should I call or should I wait it out? Not sure what number to even call either.

First check here https://www.barclaycardus.com/app/japply/checkstatus.do?default_partner=003 and see what it says. If it's anything other than an approval call the below number and tell them that you're checking on the status of your application.

Well I'll be sure to give them a call here soon and see what happens. Thanks again for all the info everyone provided here. Going to cross my fingers and hope for the best. After this its gardening time. 😀

I understand that you might be apprehensive about calling but these people are normally very nice and it can make a huge difference in whether you're approved or not. After introducing yourself, just say 'I'm calling because I applied for the Ring card and I wanted to know if there are any questions I can answer that can speed up the approval as I'm very much looking forward to having this card'. From there just answer any questions that they ask.

I have actually never had a pending app before other then the first time I applied for the CSP but that turned out quick to be an instant denial. Tried to recon but at the time they wanted to see more use on my first chase card that was only 3 months old. If they ask why I applied I'm going to tell them that I like the perks the card has and I want to build a relationship to Barclay. Wonder if that would be good enough. Sorry for all the posts but it's nice to have such a good community here. 😀 definitely one of the best fourms iv seen so far.

Dying to know the results if you've called or not!!!!

I actually just applied for the Ring a couple of hours ago and got the 10 day message also. I'm thinking it's only because I had just gotten one of their other cards about 20 minutes before I applied for the Ring though.

I'm gonna give Barclays a call here soon I guess. They are frindly there that's for sure. My one other time I've called them, was when I had first applied for the NFL card about 7 months ago. I was instantly approved by my SL was only 5k. So I called them up and got it bumped up to10k.

I'm still waiting to call been a bit busy here tonight. It would be my first Barclay card for me though. Even if they gave me a 500 dollar limit I wouldn't care. That interest rate and the perks it has are great.

EDIT:

Just got off the phone with em. Call took about 5 minutes. They verified about 6 questions with me like income employment etc. Real basic stuff. He put me on hold and came back and told me that the reason I didn't get instantly approved was because I had just been approved for the CashForward card a couple of hours ago. So he said he could approve me for the Ring if I was willing to move some of my limits from my NFL card and my CashForward card, over to a Ring card.

I have 10k limit on the NFL. 12.5k limit on my recently opened Cashforward card. Took 3.5k off the Cashforward card and added it my Ring card, thus giving me a new Ring card with a 3.5k SL on it. And leaving me with 9k on my new Cashforward.

They are nice people. I've give em call as I think you have a good shot with em based on what you had said earlier.

So it ended up being a denial. Rep said I had an amazing report and handled all my cards very well. denial reason is too many new account in all of 2015. Asked about income but wasn't a factor. Pretty surprised to be turned down with almost a 750 TU score. I know score isn't everything but I have a strong report overall. Nothing negative has ever hit my report.

Can you recon Barclay after a denial? Or should I just wait for the letter and see what it says. Pretty disappointed at this point but it is what it is.

Try credit unions. Plenty of solid cards in that 8 to 9 percent all day every day like barclay ring range.

Don't be surprised. I had an 800 TU score and had to recon and transfer the limit off another card to get my Sallie Mae. Score is just one metric in the equation.
