Oh I believe what you guys are saying but for me, someone who is trying to learn financial literacy it doesn't make sense. I wonder why my score increased in the first place. I mean isn't that what the monthly monitoring is for? To show you how changes in my report affect my score. I paid down one of my credit cards and it alerted me & showed how many points my score went up. My student loan payment decreased, it alerted me and showed my how many points my score when up (a whopping 2 lol.) If this is the case then it's not a very helpful tool to leave me wondering why on earth my score has jumped 48pts. Whatever it was, I surely want to continue doing it yes? And I'm guessing at this point that question should be directed toward myfico.

Thanks all that answered my questions.

Barclay/Apple Recon & their Security Dept?

Applied last night & was denied. I called the recon line this morning and a nice guy asked if I wanted him to take a look at the status. I said please and then he puts me on hold. Comes back to the line and said another person would be helping me. Another guy this time from the credit department. He asked me 5 weird questions.
1. Do I remember any of my previous addresses - I gave my old address
2. Do I remember any streets, landmarks, parks near my previous address - I gave him several
3. Do I live alone - No
4. What is the first name of someone living with me - I gave my oldest daughters name
5. What month was she born in - Dec
I've gone through verification before and this just seems odd. It seems like they are looking at my ancestry com as opposed to my credit reports lol.

He placed me back on hold for a few minutes and said I need to mail in my drivers license, social and a utility bill or bank statement.
Of course I'm confused, I've never heard of that for a credit card but even still, in the times that identifying info has been requested from me I'm either emailing it or faxing it.
I've tried to research this and I see a few times where people state that Barclay just gives them the run around that they have never received their documents even with certified mailing and then some stated where after they've been giving the run around they are STILL denied.

Just want to get othes experiences on recons with Barclays security dept and your reconmendation on how to proceed. Should I try calling again or just forget it?

You can call on another day and see if you get a different person. If you get the response, she send copies of the information they requested. I have read about 2-3 people here on MF this week get this verification thing. I'm not sure who they are getting some of the information from but they are coming up with some weird stuff lately.

I speak from experience when you get flagged for security verification, you have to send in the docs.. They make notes in their system so... Just send the docs in and see what they say! GL!

I got the same kind of questions the other day from NFCU when I was adding my DW onto a new card... Then my ex called and she had just app'd with them and they were asking her the same kind of questions but about my family... I had to tell her the answers. But that is at least two companies now that are doing that. I don't know why they don't just ask questions from our credit reports.

ok guys (and thanks everyone by the way) I am really confused at this point. Got an alert from myfico this morning. Logged in and it said I have an "inquiry" from Barclay. No biggie, I expected that however the action caused my score to jump from 600 to 648. What is that all about?

it is not the inquire that mad your credit score go up, it was just the alert that you saw that let you see that your score went up.

I wish I could add a picture to show you. If it's not the inquiry then myfico is showing inaccurate info and I need to give them a call. I checked myfico before I applied. My TU was 600, my EQ was 610 and my EX was 621. Now when I check my TU is up 648, my other scores haven't changed. In myfico it states what was done/changed on your report, when and how it affected your score in points. On 6/10 the TU inquiry of Barclay has a green arrow pointing up and 48pts. On my scores page when I click on the orange dot of 648 a box pops up & shows the arrow, points, date and says inquiry. When I click that box it goes into detail and states " a new inquiry was added to your report" FICO score change 600 -> 648 then it lists details of who and it states Barclay.
Call me hopeful but I'm thinking I've been approved and my loc is already reporting. What other explination is there?

Keep in mind it could also be a combination of things, not just one single event. Could be accounts aging, balances decreasing, negatives falling off your report, etc. But yea you could try contacting MyFICO and asking them for a better explanation.
