Just submitted my app online, called into verifications, and was told due to too many new accounts opened in the last 2 years that my app was declined. The analyst I spoke to said he couldn't do a reconsideration request due to the decline reason. REALLY? I have a 740 credit score on EX, 15% util, no derogs, have over $50k in deposits with Chase, and six figure income, not to mention 2 other CCs with them that have NEVER been maxed out or paid late.

I'm on hold to see if I can get another analyst to help but geez I'm so angry. Does a Special Consideration Form that you complete in a branch still work? I hate going into branches but I'll do it if it's worth it. I wanted to app for CLIs on my existing card since they were doing the HP but now I don't know if there's even a point doing that. SO UPSET! UGH!

I am so sorry but it is their new rule. 5/24. Can't have more than 5 new accounts in last 2 years. CSP,Slate and Freedom. They wouldn't care if you had a 850. New rule across the board. Has been discussed alot here.

**bleep**! I've been asking for help on my app strategy for weeks and no one has responded. I had no idea they won't allow more than 5 accounts in 2 years. When on earth did that change?? Is there any point in me submitting a special consideration form at a branch or is it a 100% hard and fast rule?? Should I bother apping for a CLI on the off chance they'll give me that using the same HP and it won't be a complete and utter waste of time or will they say the same crap??!

UIGIUBDISB:FBFNKN"S SOOOO UPSET

The "special consideration form" is literally only eligible for clients with over $15k in deposits held at Chase, which is why I bring up how much I have at their bank. You used to not even need to complete the form if a credit analyst could verify the amount of deposits you have. Apparently my decline has NOTHING to do with my creditworthiness or my credit file, but solely based on the fact that I opened more than 5 new cars in less than 2 years. That's absurd. One of those cards is from them and it's the 2nd to last new account I even opened. So, I was good enough for $9k then, but not good enough for anything now despite that my score is up 40 points from a year ago and util is cut in half with zero late anythings on my credit.

Makes sense. /sarcasm

And aside from my sig I have a mortgage, a home equity line of credit, student loans, and an auto loan.

Policies like the 5/24 are so arbitrary, I honestly never experienced anything like that while I was there. Usually the special consideration form was just something the PB/BB filled out, faxed into the credit analysis department, and could sometimes call and suck up to try and sway a decision, but no more power than that. The only person who can override a special consideration decline is the District Manager, who has to sign off on the entire credit exposure, meaning if the person defaults, the district's general ledger takes the hit for the full amount of the charge-off. As a result, overrides at that level almost NEVER happened. But special consideration forms probably had a 50-60% recon approval rate, solely because of the deposits the client had in the bank. The form itself is so short, that's really all they ask about.

Keep in mind, I worked there about 4 years ago so I have no clue what has changed. But the CSR on the phone did tell me they still do special consideration forms.
