Amex Mercedes benz call for instant decision? Why?

So after being approved yesterday for blue cash everyday card with a small $1K limit I decided today to apply for the mercedes Benz credit card (since I own my lovley AMG) I WAS given this decision that I needed to call for instant decision.

I gave them my top honesty to my income assests and retirement account. I have only one name, one adress, one phone number, one Social Security & DOB, and one employer reported on all three Credit bureaus there should be no frauds I dont understand is this better than denial or same thing anyone with similar issue

My first 2 AMEX apps were instant back to back approvals over a year ago. Didn't have to call, same HP.

However my last 2 (in March) weren't instant and they were back to back as well. Each time I got the 7-10 days message and when I called in, I was told they needed to verify. Was approved both times after verification. Same HP also.

I wouldn't worry, just call them. Good luck!

I got that message and was denied some months ago.. They're based in India and very hard to understand...

Last year I did a Green and BCP back-to-back and both were instant-approved.

Fast-forward to last week and I applied for a Delta Gold which was instant-approved, then I went for a PRG which gave me the message "We need you to call".

I had a bit of a difficult time getting through to them, but once I got to a CSR it was approved. It appears that recently they've been asking many of us to call in for a second app, even if it's not the same card type (which in the past didn't require a phone call).

Note that several people have reported that applications for two revolvers still require five days between approvals. (This doesn't apply to the OP in this thread; I'm just sharing for anybody else that it might apply to.)

If you only got approved for 1K from them for your Blue cash card I wouldn't have applied for anything else as your pretty close to a borderline approval. Of course anything can happen but I would be really suprised if you got approved. Best of luck though!

It sounds like verification because of the two apps so close together. If it was a denial 99% they wouldn't ask you to call.

It's true what bmw335is said because everywhere I read someone writes they recieved the 7-10 day message and was approved as soon as they verified identity however adding creditplz case it really is 99% I hope I get this card. Probably $1,000 limit just like the blue cash if I'm approved.

They stated my Fico score as the only basis for denial.. My EX Fico stated on the envelope was 713...(I still have it, I keep al approvals and denials), I know people have been approved with lower scores but oh well

Interesting. It's possible biz accounts are more heavily scrutinized than personal accts.

When I applied for Amex I went for PRG and then right after that was approved, applied for BCP. BCP went pending with same message you got.

Once I called it was simply a security verification check. Had nothing to do with any fraud alerts on a credit report (which I had none of). Once they verified my identity it was approved on the spot.

Update I called amex they said since I was instantly approved when I applied for blue cash everyday and than I applied for Mercedes Benz credit card she said a red flag came up upon that second app. She processed the application and it was another hp she said a decision Wil be made with in 3-5 business days interesting wonder why it takes so long?

Other people are reporting a security hold when they apply for two revolvers at the same time... generally the hold is for five days.

Last week when I did my apps only one card was a revolver, the other was the PRG. I had to call on the second app as well but it was approved over the phone.

Also, the HP being merged seems to be very much YMMV with two revolvers back-to-back... a few folks say they only got one, but (most) others say they ended up with two HPs - each on different days. If you app for a revolver and charge on the same day the HP is still merged (or a least it was for me).

Thank you uncle be I assume the blue cash everyday is a revolver and the Mercedes Benz credit card is a charge card despite both can be used where ever amex is accepted
