Amex Delta 50k Offer Showed up. Approval odds?

Ex via myFico shows 645 score, recent google inq shows 662, not sure why the difference

Current Util is ~12% (45% on one card, 20% on another card, 0% on others),

30-day later in Nov '15

One paid collection updated last month (trying to GW this)

unpaid collection from 2011

1 inq from last month, 5 from January (car shopping and 2 cap one cards), 9 total past 2 years.

No other issues currently showing on report.

Was recently denied in January by Amex, although my scores were MUCH lower (sub-600 at the time, whoops).

The offer is good until next month, so I am considering waiting and getting my overal Util <5% and the two cards down to <10%/0% respectively. Thoughts?

I was approved for the Amex ED card with <650 scores, 2 unpaid collections, and several lates on my reports. So I think you have shot.

Well FWIW I got declined by amex at the beginning of May with an EX score of 665 and paid collection on my report. But then again my AAoA was only around 5 months at the time of app'ing, which was the reason for my denial.

The question to ask is; Will this card be useful to you I got the same offer as well but have no use for delta so it's a moot point. Also keep in mind you will probably get stuck with a low SL, like $1K, will that be useful? if you answered yes than by all means give it a shot, if not, why not wait until your scores and profile improve.

I was approved a month ago for Amex Delta with Ex fico 648. Only approved for $1000 but just happy to have my foot in the door! I'd say you have a good shot of approval also.

It is always hard to tell on these things because YMMV. If you search threads and so on, you are likely to see that results can vary from person to person..

I was approved with EX at 655. 3 collections and a charge off.

Thanks all for the input. I think I'll wait until early next month when I have a lower reporting Util and can try to get one or both things off my report. We fly Delta a lot, so the card will definitely come in handy, plus we're planning on using the 110k miles for a trip this winter (she got the 60k offer earlier in the year)

If you used Delta go for it but 1000 dollars for a HP in a card that doesn't grow . I will not take the HP but once you in amex you can app for another card and is only a SP if they dont approved it .

Yep, it sure doesn't grow. I got my Sky Miles card in 2012 with a SL of $1500.00. Three years later it grew to 33.8K without the first FR being asked for and approvals every time I asked for CLIs. No telling what it would be like if it actually grew.

I hope you get it in the future. I got the Delta Platinum card (with 60K bonus miles and 15K MQM) at the end of last year with a 680 score. My SL was only $3K but that has been fine to work with. (Note - I had lots of inquiries and a short AAoA) I fly Delta enough that meeting the minimum spend requirement/waiver will move me to Diamond by the end of the year. Without the card, I'd top out at Platinum at best but possibly Gold..

So far, I've had nothing but good experiences with AMEX. Good luck!
