Barclays SUCKS

I am so p-ed off I have to laugh. I just logged into my Barclays Visa account and it said it was closed. Funny to me because I asked them for a CLI on Saturday night and spoke to a credit analyst without issue although I did not receive the CLI. It must of raised a flag because I have so many new accounts the past several months. I have had this account only 4 months as well and paid 5x the minumum payment they said was due in each statement. I was only doing this because it was a 0% fnancing offer.

There are no derogs or late payments on my credit reports anywhere. When I just phoned, I asked the analyst if Barclays is that arrogant to think they are the ONLY bank in the world. I then got the run around and she said something spooked them on my credit report like the new accounts or inquiries. I told her it takes inquiries to get credit...LOL. I was even approved for the Firestone Credit card today (Thanks to a post from Ron1). My scores from Myfico are 690 for EQ, 702 for TU and 740 for EX.

Anyway, hell with them. I don't need them for anything. I understand credit is a privelage but so is a end user like myself using their credit card so they can make money as well. I swear I will NEVER open another card from Barclays.

ouch... now I'm even more paranoid that I got 2 other cards after arrival card, only one of them is posted on credit reports... I guess I better be careful, not to give them any reason to check my credit report.

Thanks for the reply Red. I have maybe 12 new credit lines they didn't like although NONE of them have a balance. Barclays are very arrogant or sensitive. I have no clue.

LOL...Don't be so angry. They're just scared you're going to bail on them. If you were nice about it and paid off your accounts in full so they can see, i'm sure they won't have an issue with reinstating the account. Remember, be nice. Keep the sacarsm to a minimum. Sacarsm got my Total Rewards Comenity card closed and now it can never be reopened lol.

This forum while good also has me itching for more cards with all of the approvals of others. Also, Creditaddict is amazing and so is Ron with how they have all these cards and keep getting approvals.

I trend I have noticed on this forum is people talking about how happy they are with 5 million new accounts, then 3-6 months later complaining about CLD's and closed accounts. While I dont agree with the people that say 4 cars max or so on and so forth, but I like accumulating accounts in years, not days like a lot of people do. IDK Just seems like everyone on here sees no problem with applying for 20 different cards in 3 months.

12 new accounts over a span of 4 months raises a big red flag for many lenders, even if there isn't a balance on any of them. One of their concerns is that you may be planning a strategic BK, or the possibility that other lenders have not updated their balances onto your CR. Chase had the same issue with me previously.

That being said, if you do not need Barclays, just move on. But you should really stop applying and lay low for 6-12 months.

AWP, thank you for your reply and opinion. I do agree with what you said. I know its not an excuse per se, but after going through a nasty long divorce, its nice to finally be able to obtain credit again. I need to practice moderation though.

I don't think it's either. More like risk management on their part. Sounds like you were running with high utility, wanted a CLI, in addition to having 12 new TL. Very risky behavior from the lenders pov.

Pay off all your cards. Except the ones with 0% APR. I'm sure paying off the Barclaycard will also work too. They just want to feel secure and loved lol.

I was asking for the CLI to purchase my daughters macbooks for Xmas. I should of just pulled out another credit card. I was trying honestly to build a reputation with Barlcays for a better card in a year or two.

Do you have a short history or something? I ran a lot of money through all my cards (except the unless Slate) and i let most of my balances post. BOA and Amex are the only ones that ever cared. They left me alone after they noticed that i pay back, sooo...I'm not sure what the problem is here.

Sorry this happened to you OP. This is something I wonder about. I opened 15 cards within the last 6 months, 2 of them being Barclay cards, the Sallie Mae was approved last month and I even got a CLI on it already.

I do wonder what Barclay, Amex and Chase are thinking every time they SP me. I use all my cards like a boss with balances reporting sometimes but I always PIF multiple times per month.
