I applied yesterday and didnt get a no, but didnt get a yes.

Wondering if anyone has experience with this card. And is there a recon number?

Yes there is a number for you to call as this is probably verification and them wanting to ask you a few questions. Most of the apps for this card have been the same way. I do not have the number in front of me but you can find it on here if you look under backdoor numbers.

I decided to Google the "Black Card". It sounds like an OK card but if you don't mind me asking - why didn't you apply for the AMEX Platinum instead (unless you already have it) ?

currently blacklisted from amex even though I have paid them everything I owed them.

Thank the credit Gods and save your money - the Luxury cards by Barclays are image over substance. Better offers from Chase/Citi/Cap-1 even if you are willing to pay a high AF (I'm not). Seach MyFico for threads on the "Black Card" for a lot of feedback - it's a common thread.

How do you know for sure you're still blacklisted with them? I paid them too and everytime I app they HP and come up with reasons....

They used to give a sign up bonus for all 3 of their Luxury cards,But I have not seen any new bonuses on those cards and yes the AF'S are high,the gold one has a $995.00 AF

That is one of the same reasons that I have the card. I travel a lot, both for business and personal.

The card looks cool, does the access to clubs make up for the annual fee?

I don't travel so I would not get the card, but I must admit it applies to a niche market like every card does.

I called in and got approved.

It was strange as they had me do a automated ID verifier, and once I completed and answered the multiple choice questions, I got an automated "Welcome to the Black Card Family". "You will receive your card and welcoming kit in (different voice: 24 hours)"

Then I got dropped back to the person who I had originally been speaking with who said "how did it go?"

I said I got approved, and he seemed like he had no idea.

Has anyone else had recon experience like this???

As far as the question about the clubs being worth the $495.00 AF, yes very much worth it.

Eating and drinking for free before flights it doesnt take long to earn back the cost of the AF.

If you dont fly enough then it wouldnt be worth it.

Congrats on getting approved. Did you find out what you limit is on the card?
