Approval chances for discover it w/ch7

i have been trying for months of getting a prequalified offer on the discover it but have never been able to get anything solid showing a fixed apr as stated on some posts until today. my question is what are my chaces of getting approved after being denied 2 time in the past by discover for bk reporting? my current fico8 are: TU669, EX 661, EQ665. i have over 31k in credit lines, any advice is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. It is going to be hit or miss in regards to getting approved. I have seen people get approved around 2 years after bk as well as seen people get denied 5-6 years after. There is more to it than just the bk. How long ago was it? Was discover part of the bk? What does your current file look like? Best of luck to you and hope you do finally get the approval you want but it is hard to say. There isn't any rhyme or reason behing how they view bk's.

100% agree with above poster, no rhyme no reason. Ive seen plenty here post of being approved with bks showing, could be their income wasa more significant factor or could be other.
In my case never had Discover didnt IIB received like 5 mailers in a 2 month period and have 4 wasted hard pulls to show for it on my reports. The last time they even double me and still wouldnt budge. 1st reasons was the bks, now they are down to too many inquiries or my favorite , no savings account. WTH?
Anyhow , each person is different so i cant say no dont apply cuz you just may be the one they like Only use caution when doing so. I believe ill get an Amex before i ever see a Discover, and im only nine years in to a possible 20 to life sentence for burning Amex

Thanks for the response, my bk was filed 08/14 and d/c 12/14. Discover was not IIB. I havent been late after the bk my uti is 1% and i have the following inq's: TU 10(1 in last 12months) EQ 8(0 in last 12mos) and EX 11( 1 last 12mos). I have 12 positive TL's highest is Cap Qs $5500, Cap QS $3500, Cap secured $501, Barclaycard rwds $2800, Apple Reeards $2000, Walmar SC $5000, Old navy Sc $4000, Target $2000, Overstock $3000, VS $1850, and Kohls $700 my AAoA is 1yr and 9mos.

OP, seeing as the bk was not discharged until 12/14, if it were me, I would wait until at least 2 years has passed before applying. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that you won't get approved, I just haven't seen anyone get approved before the 2 year mark. There are others on here that might be able to shed some more light on this subject and even the possibility of another member chimming in that has been in the same boat as you.

Try to apply for one of this Discover Cards....... http://www.creditcards.com/credit-cards/discover-it-for-students-221810947.php?catid=27 .........OR......... http://www.creditcards.com/credit-cards/discover-it-chrome-for-students-221810946.php?catid=27 ...... ,Even though they say they are for "Students" you don't need to be a Student to get them and they are much easier to be Approved than the Regular Discover iT Cards

Did your mailers have the large range apr? Or a small range?

Thanks for all the replies everyone, Justagirl73 the apr was not a range it is a set apr. its real high but that doesnt bother me since i dont carry a balance usually.

Agree again with James, 2 years post maybe pushing it but what i see that may help you is that your inquiries on EQ look really good, only 8 and 0 in 12 months, id take that any day of the week to Discover seeing as they always throw that back at me . So could swing your way...
@justagirl73, if your question was at me , yeah all those mailers had the 3 point range , though for me i believe lowest offer was like 15-18. I must admit on my last app i just got mad and said well, since im gonna garden for next 2 years, ill give it one more try apped on amazon for their discover offer and of course i got hit with 1) too many inqs 2) something about bankcards and 3) too many inqs, Double whammy. I would like to see if when i unfreeze my reports and in 2 years im super clean and doing good if i ever receieve another mailer. If so, probably just go to shredder,only so much heartbreak one can take

my mom filed for a chapter 7 late 2011, fully paid in 2012, she got a discover preapproval in the mail this year and approved for 5k. she never had a discover card before the BK so im not sure if that plays a role. her FIco scores were 691 and 695. never had a baddie or late ater that BK. I checked her report for her a few weeks back and the BK shows as paid on her judgement section of her report. shes at 702 now. definately possible to get with discover after bk .

With DISCOVER it's definitey a YMMV....we were DC'd in August/2015 and I had a DISCOVER IT card then and did NOT include them in BK. In January, I was messing around online and went to their pre-approval page and to my surprise got a preapproval offer. I know it's not very reliable, but I figured we had a previous relationship with them and maybe they wanted us back. My previous CL was only $1K (never could get a CLI but didn't use the card much anyway). So anyway, I hit apply and got approved for $800. I've had 2 CLI's since then and it's currently up to $1800. We use it mainly for the 5% categories. I think at the time my FICO was 650 or so. Coming up on 6 months now so about time to hit the luv button again (have been couple of times a week ). I'm hoping to get a pretty good increase as we always PIF and make several payments a month.

Again YMMV and who knows how their UW works.....hope this helps

Here is my experience with Discover. I had BK chapter 7 discharged 6/29/2016 and on July 6th 2016 I applied and was instant approved for a Discover It Card SL $1250 and I never had a Discover Card. I tried 2 times before the discharge and was declined due to bankruptcy reporting.

I may be the exception but I was approved 7 months after my BK7 discharge. I tried at 4 months was declined. They gave me $1400. Wish you luck !

Congrats OP!
Looks like they LOVE you!. I really would like to push Discover from my memory and just move forward wirh lenders who are willing to work with me but its really hard when most posts here on the forum are about Discover or Amex, 2 cards i cant get Should just garden hard and stay away for 2 years from this site but it just too hard. Anyway yours is a reason why one should at least try if one desires a Discover and has or had a bk, you just never know what they want in their clientele. Enjoy your limit and hope it grows well for ya
