Amex CLI ED - Wait?

Back on March 27th, I was given an auto CLI of 1k(5k to 6k) on my Amex ED. Don't know why but on April 19th I applied for another CLI and was denied.

I've been in the garden since April and was just approved for an Amex Plat AND Mercdes-Benz Amex on the same day(end of July).

How long should I wait until I request a CLI on my Amex ED given my recent activity with Amex?

Your recent approvals shouldn't matter with the request for your CLI. Usually you have to wait 90 days after a CLI or Denials, so if you were denied on April 19th, I think it's safe to say that you should be able to request another one now. Good luck to you and let us know how it turned out!

Mco thanks for your input! I did not get the signup 100k offer, I got the 50k offer. I'll let you know how my cli turns out

If you are denied a CLI you must wait ninety days before you can apply again and if you are approved for a CLI then you must wait one hundred and eighty days before you can apply for another. Even if you have multiple cards with them you as an individual can only get two each year.

No only those you request.

All, I hit the luv button and was denied ... my EXP FICO is 716 but I was denied due to "internal risk score". I current have 3 Amex and have been a member since 2015. Any thoughts?

They may feel that you are at the max of what there internal scoring algorithm has set for your credit profile. What are the limits of your other Am Ex cards, any negatives on your reports, utilization percentage, if you wish to share that information for better responses.

It may have helped if your UTI is lower. I'm not so sure but I heard AMEX usualy likes to see use of cards and paying in full. Unfortunately if you are declined you have to wait 90 days from the day to try again. If approved, 181 days...

The thirty percent utility is a little high but not enough to cause the declination of the CLI but if these cards are all fairly new they may want to see a little more history before giving a larger credit limit. Also if your credit file is young and or thin that may also be a factor.

Thanks Tel, I've only been a member of Amex since July 2015(Amex ED). I'll wait while before requesting another CLI.

When adding more Amex cards, I did not receive another cli until nine months later. And the cli card was over a year old. It is definitely a history thing.

All here is the letter I got from Amex

Declined due to:

# of credit cards with balances per Experian
# of creditors who reviewed your credit report(2, Inquiries the last 30 days - 7 total on Exp)
Your FICO score - 689

I'll go back to the garden for awhile.
