AMEX application experts help please....

I have been a good boy lately and not apped for anything, so finally made the decision to get the Delta Reserve AMEX...approved YAY for me....now next day I get an email I am selected to apply for the Blue Cash with the $400 extra for travel charges in the next 6 months....OK NOW I think I am at my limit with 4 credit cards from AMEX but what the heck, they sent the invite right (I refuse to believe it is just marketing LOL) apply and get the call us please...thinking it is about hitting my limit with them on credit cards...now here is the strange part CSR says you just applied for Delta and AMEX will not let you apply for another within the next 5 days, so this app is on hold, then she says that since I called in she will put a rush on shipping the card once the hold is off and I am approved (me?) does that mean I am approved? or is this just CSR rhetoric? I figured I was over the limit and they were going to tell me that, never heard of express shipping a card not approved yet? Anybody got anything - or had similar happen to you?

Do you really need another dude? LOL! I'm half kidding, it's your wallet, but the five day thing is just their policy to protect against fraud. I have no idea if you're over the limit - I have very little experience with Amex, honestly. I'm thinking you're not overexteneded with them, because I'm pretty sure I've seen signatures with five Amex cards in them. That said, I've also read posts of people getting third applications denied because the company just doesn't want to give them another card right now. I've also heard of people getting grilled about why they wanted the card. The express shipping is a request that the reps can put in "pending approval" - so it doesn't mean you're approved necessarily, only that they will rush it to you if you are since you had to wait. You'll have an answer soon. Cold shower time.

Thanks for the reply Cat I appreciate it....and it is NOT a question of NEED it is a question of NEVER passing up an offer...LOL I think it was just the way she phrased it, like you said, "pending approval" would have not made me question it at all.....thanks again!

You can now have five Amex cards as evidenced by some people on this board. So if the CSR says you are approved, you are likely approved. Good job and enjoy your new cards.

Thanks YES!! I know I was "declined" maybe almost a year ago for having the limit (4 CC) was not sure the 5 thing was a reality.....good to know!!

Oh ok. With these lenders, alot changes in a year as they tweak and change their policies.

+1 you can now have 5 revolvers... Probably a security thing for the 5 days on two revovlers approval. You should be golden, enjoy the $400 dollars for 1k spend

sounds like you're in .... not that you need it since you already have the most coveted and prestigious cards in the world, mickey mouse and captain america
