topic navy fed app question in Credit Card Applications

I've been debating for a while whether or not to go ahead and join Navy Fed, and decided to go ahead before the end of the year, my father is recently retired Army, so I called in and the guy I spoke with was less than helpful. He said I need to find out if my dad recieves retirement from DoD or VA and then to call back in, so I'm waiting to hear back from father about this but wondering if anyone else had to know the answer to that question, I have his dob and ss and read LOTS of threads on how NFCU has such awesome customer service and it was so easy to join and this guy just seemed less than helpful, maybe I'm just not well versed on how their app process works, if anyone can give me any insight on this that would be great, I asked him three times after that if I need any other info and he said no

Have you tried entering your father's social in the application to see if it will accept you that way?

I actually ended up just calling back again and got a different person who didn't seem to need that info to proceed with my application! Strange that 2 people working in the same department have different requirements!
