Chance for Chase Sapphire Reserve

Hi, there,

I am interested in applying for the Chase Reserve Sapphire and I was hoping to get some advice on my approval chances as I understand it's a premium card with likely higher thresholds for approval.

What I expect to get out of it:
3% on Travel & Dining. I eat out all the time and travel on 15-20 flights a year. I transfer UR points to FF programs.
100k bonus points. Will transfer to FF programs and use for longhaul premium cabin flights.
$300 travel credit. Will use it in full every time
Priority Pass membership. Can make good use of this.

I've been wanting to look at cards with more benefits especially things like travel credits and lounge access. So, this card seems to fit and they make it attractive with the bonus.

I already have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, which is my primary card due to Travel/Dining categories and transferrable points. So, I'll need to think about getting rid of CSP at some point - not sure if I could PC to Freedom, I'd want that, if possible.

Any advice on application or card portfolio appreciated. Should I have a balance on my CSP before I apply or is zero balance better?

I moved in over 6 months ago, and my EQ report doesn't list my latest address.

I tested the Chase site for preapprovals and it didn't find any offers for me. Not sure if these two are related or not. Better to go to a branch? Will they merely say the same thing - no preapprovals on file?

Oh, I also have a chase Checking account, which has a direct deposit tied to it. I "empty" it every now and then by paying my CSP through it but otherwise, it doesn't end up having any high balances.

Your chances are very good at being approved. In fact I'd be shocked if you were denied. As for a balance on your CSP, it desn't really matter unless you were carrying a very high one on it vs your limit. If you're approved for the CSR I would then transfer your CSP limit to the CSR and close out the CSP as there is no reason to carry both cards. Or as you suggest PC the CSP to the Freedom or even the Freedom Unlimited. That way you can maximize your UR points earning power. Good luck.

You are overqualified. Just apply online and it should be a instant approval. Looking at your profile, i would say that it will be 99% instant approval, 1% chance to go for review but a representative will approve it for sure.

I will say, PC the CSP to Freedom or Freedom Unlimited, and apply for the other. Extra bonus, max UR points.

Thanks! I got UPS notification today that the delivery is due for tomorrow. So they did have it sent out immediately. I applied in brach after 2pm, so I imagine if I had gone in the morning, the card likely would have been in my hand today!
