On some cards, yes. Unless you receive an auto-CLI before the 9-month mark then that seems to be norm. Some retail cards would be exempt from that "waiting" process, like the J.Crew card as an example.

I have the Trek card and even though I cycled (HA!) the credit line of $4,500.00 twice (what can I say, triathalon road bikes and true mountain bikes needed to be bought. Credit health VS. Financial health maybe?). Anywho, the CLI button is there, but when clicked I immediately get the "Your account is not currently eligible for a credit increase message". I've had the card since June.

I'm kinda shocked at why people want new credit cards and then immediate CLI's. That to me would tell a lender that you're desperate. I never hit the luv button. 4 of 5 of my Comenity cards are attached to Visas and MCs so adding all the limits together gives me a great amount I can spend and stay below the 10% utilization. I didn't take any hard pulls on my Comenity cards and my credit score is scheduled to go over 800 by March 2015. I don't care what the name on the card says or how pretty it is. It buys what I want and it reports positively for me.

I have a Victorias Secret Card and HSN card since September 2014......I used Victorias Secret once in October for $29.00 and paid that back right away then just last week I placed another order and when I logged into my account to make sure the purchase posted they doubled my limit. So in 2 months VS gave me a $250 CLI to make my total now $500....so for some reason I didnt have to wait the 9 months (only 2) for VS and I heard they were real strict on waitng the 9 months for a CLI

Now with my HSN card I havent used that card at all since I got approved. I actually regret ever getting it but after I seen VS gave me a credit limit increase I checked HSN and they did NOT give me one but like I said I have never used that card at all. I am actually thinking about closing it

Victoria Secret will be 9 months unless they give it to you.

HSN you should call into the automated system and ask for CLI.

Say "NO" when it asks if you want a specific amount.

if it congrats you with cli, then it will say anything else.

REPEAT "Credit line increase, and repeat the process until the system says "sorry"

Trek I have gotten 2 CLI's through phone system and have had the account under 4 months!

Each comenity card is different... many of the Visa co-branded cards need 6 months, but some give 1 cli instantly if you request.

I still check my orbitz and my partners virgin america every month!
