Discover It application

So I applied for the Discover It card last friday and got a message that I needed to call to verify some information, I called and I was told that my application was being processed and to call back in a few days. What can I expect once I call, do I have a good chance to get it?

Before applying I checked the prequalified offers and the Discover It card appeared with a set APR and that´s why I decided to apply. I have a thin profile, 16 months of credit history, 2 credit cards with a $1000 limit between them, a credit score of 698 and no late payments.

Thin profile with only 2 cards?? you're IN like sin! LOL

Id say you have a 75% shot at getting approved. They LOVE thin profiles, and not a bunch a derogs. Score is fine for approval too.

If you would be embarassed to say it to your grandmother or it would be inappropriate for the kids in your family, it's best to save it.

So I just called today and I was told by the agent that they wanted to get me a decision today, then he proceeded to tell I wasn't approved and offered me to open a joint account :-(

Well that stinks...sorry OP. Many of us have had to knock on Discover's door several times to get let in. 3 was the magic number for me. Don't let it get you down. Keep up the good work and try again in 6 months. I'm really surprised you didn't get approved.

Yes sorry to hear that Op. For me the worse part, apart from the rejection obviously, is getting the joint account offer. I would rather be offered the secured or nothing but i always got that offers on all my rejections. Best of luck on future endeavors

Well, I've been looking at this card as my 3rd and last card BUT. .I think I'm just gonna pass !!!

Looks like too many hoops and don't need their drama !

May be a great card for many, but I'm not seeing it for me..

You're so close to an approval and I'm guessing they've been using EQ when you apply. When I got mine they used EX but, that might just be geographical since many people here have mentioned them using EQ. I would suggest either getting the PR updated or freeze EQ and they'll pull your other CR instead and you'll have an approval. It's well worth the hassle of getting in with Discover as it grows quickly with very little use.

Just a friendly reminder that it's against the TOS of this site to advocate freezing a credit bureau for the express purpose of forcing a prospective issuer to use another report.

If we go any further down this path don't be surprised if a moderator gets involved... just a heads-up.
