Chase Sapphire Preferred Decision Pending help?!

I applied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. I've had a Chase Freedom for a couple years. I got the following Screen... What should I do? Call a back door number? or wait? If I should call a backdoor number, what is the best number and what are the best things I can say to get a decision made? Thanks in advance myFICO'ers!

You will have to dial 888-338-2586 and enter your social security number to check your status through the automated system

If it says "wait 7-10 days"... you are denied 99% for sure.

if it says "2weeks".... high chance of approval- 90%

if it says "30days"..... higher chance of approval- 99%

This cannot be true. I tried earlier and it is NOT an automated line as it transferred me to a customer service representative who told me to wait two weeks.

I realize you said 99%, but to add a counter anecdote anyway, I got the 7-10 days response through the automated system. They eventually mailed me saying that they just had to do a fraud check. I called them back to confirm and got approved on the spot. So all hope is not lost if you get the 7-10 day message.

Well, there you have your answer. You called and they said wait 2 weeks. Well, then you'll either get a letter telling you to call fraud for ID verification or a denial with reasons. Maybe they're just bogged down and need to review something that got flagged.

Call 800-432-3117, it will give you the option to check application status, listen to the menu and follow it. As stated above the 7-10 message is usually a decline. If you apped today, wait one day and call. I did this once and the status changed from 7-10 to 2 weeks. 2 weeks or 30 days is usually a good thing. Good luck.

Thanks for this info! This IS the correct # to call! They have me the 2 week response time so I'm crossing my fingers that it comes through Thanks again!

I'm on the same boat as you but for their Hyatt card; I first got the 7-10 business days message, but just yesterday I got a letter in the mail requesting address verification. I think this is generally a good sign, from what I have read. I haven't checked if the message changed to 2 weeks though.

My credit report as of today is showing 3 new accounts in the last 24 months

Inquiries: EX - 7 (3 from Chase) EQ - 4 TU - 8 (3 from Chase, 2-non Credit card)

Is this bad?

Sounds like you will be getting the card, just let it ride out. the 2 week message on the auto status line has never let me down.

I applied for the Slate two days ago and immediately got the 7-10 day. I called the backdoor lending dept. Had to unfreeze Transunion as I thought they would pull EX. Unfroze and was immediately approved by lending for $6,200.00.

Call lending....

Thanks! How long did you wait after you app'd to call in? I don't currently have any of my CR's frozen so i'm assuming that's not the issue they're having with my app that they couldn't immediately approve me.

I just received a call from Chase Card Services (844) 540-0009 regarding my application for the CSP. They were calling to confirm I had indeed applied for the card and to verify my identity. They ended the call saying that I will receive an answer in the mail if I am approved one way or the other in 1 to 2 weeks. Shall I wait it out or call the backdoor?

Called the 'Lending' department as you suggested after Chase called me earlier. Lending department says your application has been declined through the lending backdoor number.....Then a miracle happens, the wonderful lady on the other end of the line says "if you would like, I can reconsider it for you". She informed me it was declined to many inquiries as I stated earlier the number of inquiries I had was 7 for EX, 4 for EQ, and 8 for TU. She then asked me why I had so many inquiries. I then explained I was very interested in the Chase Sapphire Preferred because of the rewards structure and that it had no FTF's which would benefit me as I work and live in Switzerland. I also informed her I had been a Chase Customer for 12 years and never missed a payment on my Chase freedom credit card that I got 3 years ago. I told her I would also be willing to use the Credit limit I had on my freedom toward my CSP as I would most likely not be able to use the Chase Freedom in Switzerland due to the 3% FTF's. She asked me to hold on while she did some number crunching. She came back on the line 3-5 minutes later and said 'I have gone ahead and approved you, but you will need to provide verification of your address by sending a Drivers License photocopy'. I replied 'most soyyyyytenly!!!!!' I'm so excited they reconsidered. They didn't tell me the CL but I will figure that out in the next week or so! Thanks for everyone's input! I have been wanting this card to add to my Credit Portfolio for a couple years now and I've finally done it! Thanks everyone!!!!!!!
