@Anonymous

I gotta disagree with you and many people will... Amazon Prime offers free shipping for two day deliveries, pretty much anything. Last year I saved around 500+ in shipping alone as I do prime orders ever week. Keep in mind alot of states don't charge state tax either for prime. Also it depends on how much you spend on Amazon how much that 5% is worth. Alot of people, maybe not you spends 500 to thousands of dollars a month with Amazon. I am an example I spend 1kish a month on Amazon so you can't group everyone into your category. It isn't a gimmick as you also have Prime Video, Music, etc., etc.. You get tons out of prime membership if you are an avid Amazon shopper and don't have time to goto stores which are typically higher and time is money for me personally. To each and their own, but your opinion isn't the only right one nor is mine as we all have different needs and spending patterns. We also all make different income just as some can/do go into debt many such as myself can afford 1k+ in amazon a month without worrying about my retirement or going into debt. I typically like to think of this forum as fiscal conservatives as many on here are rebuilder either building from past mistakes such as CO/CA'S or even BK's or are new to credit and learn not to mess up of you are going to be building for 7-10 years depending.

Also as you I have the CSR and also the Ritz and those see each 10k+ a year on as well as both of those cards add different value whether it is UR's at 3x that are great or Gold status at Ritz and other perks. Each card has their purpose. Sure some are going for this card cause it is a metal core like the CSP or whatever, but I don't believe that was the OP although I could be wrong.. Alot of assumption in your post.

Probably doesn't matter if you wait for discover to report or not as long as you have other CC's on your report which obviously you do. As long as your utilization is decent <30%ish or better yet <10% with those scores you are fine. Not like the Amazon Visa hands out huge limits so a good limit is 5-7k approval. Hope this helps if you decide to go for it.

Agree Jolt, looks like a good card to have. I see it as one its a chase , two its a visa so you can use it everywhere , and three now hows the 5% you would use so its a good card to have. If you will app for it , nothing wrong waiting til your Disco reports, just adding alittle spit and shine to your stellar report. Never know if thst would make the difference between that 5 or 7k Good luck buddy

There is minimal bonus ($70 most) and it helps Amazon greatly to gain market share. This is a win-win for both Amazon+Chase. It is going to be a $$ winner for Chase this year, after all the losses associated with the CSR.

It should be easy to apply and get approved for Chase Amazon. It is outside 5/24 rule and it is metal and cool looking. The cost to Chase is mimimal.

I'm tempted to go for this card as well and cxl my store version. But I truly don't "need" this card other than lower APR, it's a Visa, and if I do get rid of my Amazon store card, I would only be down to two retail cards (Banana Republic and care credit). I will definitely be following this topic.

I would wait and just work with what you have.
In all reality to me, 3% or 5% isn't any type of special deal. Now if we're talking 10-20%, then, yeah.
But these CC's run all types of "offer-nothing" marketing gimmicks to get people hyped and subscribed. The only cards I believe are worth it, are Hotels and Airlines that accumulate actual points for dollars - You know, real world use. Something worthwhile that you can put to real world use and benefit from.

3-5% on 10 different cards isn't anything real-life saving, unless you're buying in bulk. And that's spending a lot of money - on 10 different cards.

But then again, these types of deals are what really loops people in, causing a huge debt load - on 10 different cards.

That's called irresponsibility. We've all been there at one time or another. Itr's called life, live and learn.

For those that are responsible, it turns out, you really don't use the card anyway.
But, if YOU want it, then you should have it. You only have one life to live, LIVE IT!

I have the Chase Amazon Visa card at the starting limit of $4,000. Well, let's see... I used it a few times & didn't even break $500 in spending on it. Had it almost a year now, and it's in my CC wallet.

I also have the Amazon store card from Synchrony with $3500. Used that a few times as well. It's in my CC wallet.

But like many others here, I got dawn into the hype. Had to have it. I got it.

The 2 cards I really made my life are the CSP and the United Mileage. I have put THOUSANDS in use on those 2 bad boys! my CSP looks like it's a 10+ year old card...lol. I got a replacement for the United, because it started looking dull and old. It's now in the CC wallet unused.

I am planning on rotating, but the point is, these are 2 very useful cards and I thank Chase for them. I'll get a CSP replacement once I CC wallet this one and pay it off.

As far as Amazon Prime, I honestly do not see that as a useful program, overall. The only benefit that makes me smile is fast shipping (same-day delivery). That's it. I can get movies and games and apps from other quality places. 2-day shipping? come on.

Now, look at it this way, To pay $99 annualy, or the new $10.99 monthly for this program is crazy. Then they are going to create some metal card to make you feel soft and warm and pink inside...lol

You're actually paying for that shipping or those movies or those games. You could just use your regular CSP (rack up points for dollars) CC to buy the things you want. You can also use those UR points @...(Gasp!) - Amazon. The same retailer that will charge you for their Prime program.

How many people remember when Amazon use to ship for free if you ordered under $49 without this Prime program?

Also If you're foolish enough to overpay by $32.88 yearly for a program that charges you $99.00 yearly, then do it.

It's all marketing, and it's all worth it to benefit the company offering it, and that's how they get people to buy in and rack up huge debt.

I understand that, but the average consumer here does NOT make 6 figures yearly.
I don't understand why anyone making 6+ would have a debt load of half of that, when one should be able to use their available cash to purchase.
Le'ts just say you make $50k yearly, why would you have a debt load of $10-15k on CC's? Just because you have a CC does not mean, everything in your entire life should go on it and not be paid. Of course you manage your finances, well, but the average consumer, does not.
I understand we're all different, but that's just my take. I've lived and learned.
And I now know how to effectively manage what I have to avoid issues.

Just like I have learned from this forum from all of the experts. You guys provided me great advice. I didn't need one of these phony debt consolidation firms top rip me off and do for me, what I did on my own. Pen and Paper (or MS Word) and a Check is all it took to re-build effectively.

I've lived and learned.
And I now know how to effectively manage what I have to avoid issues.

I agree if ones makes 6 figures you shouldn't have a debt load and know how to manage money and most do as stated on this forum. Also as stated most people on this forum have messed up in the past and hopefully have learned their lesson. I think OP was just disappointed at the SL and APR although I can't speak for him/her.. I would hope that most people on here manage their finances, but only they can make their destiny and hopefully they make the right choices from reading others issues on this forum. The Amazon card is a great card if you shop alot on amazon just like the CSP/CSR etc are great cards if you eat out and travel alot of transfer the UR's out.. Most Chase cards have a good purpose aka free hotel night each year with AF etc.. Where other cards from other lenders such as Credit One lets say are only good for rebuilders until they can say get a Cap1 QS1 and build from their then dump the Credit one etc.. Anyways we are both going a bit off subject of the Amazon Prime Visa card.

I agree. But it is a nice card to have in your arsenal, if you have no other cards that can do the same or even more.

The apr is meh on it, but could be worse it is meant to be a PIF card anyways and the limit is pretty good for amazon to be honest. They simply don't hand out big limits on this card. If you want a big chase limit apply for Hyatt that isnt under 5x24 and move some of the limit over to this card. What are your stats anyways as I was suprised I got the best apr with a 680 EQ, but granted I have been with chase and ran alot through their cards so internal score might be high with them?

Its the principle of it.. I have a good score, low util, not too bad on the inqs, and got the worst rate?.. Yes its partially psycological but its almost better off using another Chase card than the AZ.. 14.24 on freedom and same offer on FU right now in my account.. Its the convienence factor plus the rebate... ..Didnt even get the higher CL when it posted to my chase account...

Have to go look in my other thread and cut and paste the stats.. (Here they are)

Discover Fico 755

Ex FICO 747 (the EX Chase pulled was 754)

UTI 10% on TU 9%on EX

Inq ..(5 total on all reports from what I see)

Only seeing an EX inquiry for the card itself

Its the principle of getting the worst APR on the card more than anything...

If that makes sense..

And if they gave me the crappiest rate with a decent score.. at least they could have put me at 5K

-J

At least for me, Prime pays for itself in benifits.. no different than some folks with an AF travel card.. (which do not make much sense for me)

Its funny but i dont often use same day delivery.. sometimes ill use the "slow" delivery for the perk/bonus... or if i make multiple orders to try to time them to come in at a similar time.... Yes those perks cost.. but they are useful... Its also why i take advantage of amazons internal financing offers when offered.. 0% split pays actually mean more money that stays in the bank or higher average daily balance in the savings... Plus 2% on Gas/Restraunts/Drug stores and it being avalible without high minimums or having to be in the chosen category...... These are categories im interested in.. Perhaps i should have gone for AARP.. quite possibly but for trying to save on both mundane expenses AND where i shop frequently.... it makes sense for my spending..

In regards to my amazon prime granted i dont take advantage of all benefits like movies etc but the free shipping is key for me because without it would be expensive to where i live and im really enjoying all the free music. But to each their own. But i have no probs with the 99 annual fee . Its just what it is for the extra benefits. I guess its like any other reward card, you got fihure out if your spend warrants the annual fee and if not well i guess look for other options.

Lol i like your statement Jolt...

"I WANTED A MOSTLY PIF CARD, NOT A MUST PUF CARD!"

Excellent point. Id imagine all cards SHOULD. Be PIF but unless its a charge card, one should be able to carry a balance regardless of apr. Now if one has worked hard to get there scores in top botch shape and profile, i believe they should reasonably expect lower rates. For me thats the purpose of getting high scores so one can take advantage of better rates which are normally given to such people who have demostrated good credit habits.

If it goes into sd J, at least it will be a nice sd
