Barclays Arrival Plus app stuck

Background.. my FICO is 818, 2 recent inquiries and I have zero debt. I applied for the Arrival Plus card and they have denied it for "security reasons" **bleep**? Suffice to say I was pissed off and called them. They say they will approve it only if I mail them a copy of my DL, SS card and utility bill. I asked if I could fax since I don't feel comfortable mailing my SS#, they said no mail only.

For the record I am an existing Barclays savings customer and told them if they don't accomodate something reasonable I will withdraw my cash which is around 60k or so with these idiots. They essentially told me to mail the docs or piss off.

Frustrating bastards.

Indeed frustrating. The beauty of being financially healthy and debt free is you can go to the next bank that will be happy to have your business.

I am an existing Barclay JetBlue MC holder and wanted the Barclay Apple Rewards Visa. They asked me to mail them the same information (Copy of DL, SS Card, and a utility bill) - I sent it certified mail so someone from Barclay signed for it and the day I got my return certified card back I called. I was approved within 5-10 minutes.

I know it's a bother but it's Barclays security measures.

You'll be approved with no problems!

It does seem kind of ridiculous. Especially since you're an existing customer and you have a significant amount of money in their bank. The credit department is different, but you would think they would be able to see your current information in the system. If the information was good enough for a savings account, it should be good enough for a credit card. Sending certified mail is a good idea if you still want the card. I would be super pissed off if it was me though, so I understand. I've left banks for much smaller reasons than that. I'm a recovering bank hopper though.

I have 2 chase accts and am in the process of having docs verified again. I am verifying address and bday. Had to send utility bill and dl. I was able to fax, but I was denied due to a pen mark on the paper. They did reopen the app, but I had to pay to send the docs again.

I'm frustrated, but mad? no. There is an issue that the fraud dept wants to address.

OP, if this wasn't your app, and someone was trying to open the acct in your name I'm sure you be pretty upset if they didn't do everything they can to validate the applicant. I'm not even a fan of barclay. Closed my acct with them months ago. Is their process the best, maybe not. But it is their policy and others have done this to obtain their approval. This is obviously frustrating for anyone to go thru. I've been waiting almost 3 wks to get an approval. Is what it is.
