My Chase Fairmont adventure

Figured I would make my own thread since applying.

With the hype about this going away and possibly becoming a Freedom or FU I decided to jump while the links were still active so I went for it January 15th in the morning.

15, 16, 17, and 18th (tonight), robo lady has continued to give the 2-week message, though I have not received the expected Experian inquiry notice from myFICO yet.

When I got CSP last year I believe it was in 2-week message for a few days so this may actually pan out, though I'm curious why no HP yet. They did HP me on January 3rd when I double app'd for CSR + Ink Cash so maybe they just reused that pull?

Great mind thinks alike! I also apped for Fairmont. It went to pending 30 days. I waited like a day or two and decided to call. That was like my last app on a 8 cards-app 1-2 weeks ago. Keep in mind I have like 8 Chase cards prior.... I just could not wait for 30 days as previously I was always told 2week message leading to approval in a couple days. I sort of wanted them to deny me I guess... but the analyst was initially nice but later sort of irritable wanting me to close freedom or another card to make this card approved for me. Eventually he agreed to move credit from my other card to open this 9th Chase card for me... Now I feel like I am under their radar for AA :/ Oh well we will see what happens.

So you apped for CSR and ink cash on 1/3 and Fairmont on 1/15? What were the messages for CSR and ink cash? Were you pre-approved? I fotgot what the format of the robo lady is like. Does she actually tell you what message for which app? I believe that she usually tells you the status of each app for each application date but not disclosing the card name. Hopefully you can share more on what exactly she says...

My gut-feeling is that your app for Fairmont might be auto-rejected because of more than 2 applications with Chase in a month so there's no inquiry that date 1/15. It's not typical at all for Chase not to pull again. Did you check other credit reports? Maybe they did pull TU or EQ rather than EX that day?

EDIT: I heard from somewhere that if you have any Chase app the month before apping for Chase ink card, your ink card app will always be denied. Not sure if it's accurate though. If it's true and this logic applies, your app for Ink cash might be denied if you submit it after applying for CSR.

If it's pre-approval, I would call on CSR or always wait it out for 2 week message. For all business card application with Chase, I will always wait it out regardless.

I will only call if it's 7-10 or 30 days with personal application.

I was not pre-approved, both CSR and Ink Cash were instantly 5/24 denied, as I received letters a week later dated the same day as my applications. No point in trying to recon that since my reports show 16/24. The message for those still says I will be notified within 7-10 business days.

The Fairmont app says within 2 weeks (as of tonight).

I have the myFICO 3B thing with a monthly subscription, and should have received a notification if they pulled any bureau's report 3 days ago.

My only prior experience with a Chase approval also went to 2 weeks for about 6 days I think. This was for an online pre-qualified Sapphire Preferred.

I see... thank you for the clarification. Maybe they use the same pull after denied application -- hopefully someone else can provide more data points.

Well if I were you, I probably would still wait it out for the rest of this week as Monday is holiday for them. You could also try to call verfication and see if that's the issue. If they want to transfer you, just be sure to tell them that you will call credit department later.

I'm still rooting for you. My 2 weeks changed to the 7-10 days after about 4 days. I was (am) bummed. Keep us posted.

thanks! I will update as soon as anything happens. Still a little odd that they didn't pull any credit report from this app...

I have read in other threads that all you are allowed to app for in a 30 day period with Chase is 2 cards ? Does this apply for your situation? Maybe this is the reason ?

I'm thinking unfortunately the 2+ apps in 30 days means this one is probably automatically denied and hence the lack of a pull.

hmm maybe but staying at 2 weeks has generally been a good sign, especially looking at other DPs for this app which changed to 7-10 days. I believe that if the app is actually denied the status will always say 7-10 days rather than admitting the truth.

I'm not sure if it is "applications" or approvals.

I had read previously that Chase would only approve a maximum of 2 cards within a 30-day window, but I have not seen anything regarding number of applications, given some denials.

As I mentioned, however, since the status continues to remain as 2 weeks, I am hopeful that this will appear on my Chase account any day now
