Hi Grill, for me it was super easy!. Just go online, fill in the app put in your veteran and fill in all the proper info. This takes like 5 minutes. After i hit send., later you will get an email stating due to law they have to verify you by your drivers license and something showing proof of address. You can do it by email. I was so excited getting past the app part that when i saw you could do this by email i took a pic of my id and one 2 of my most recent bank statement and sent it by email with attachment. I believe within 2 days i got my welcome to Navy approval email and basically that same night i called to get me membership # , set up my account and put in my app for a cc.

Now i never officially heard back on the cc but there it was after like 2 days approved in my account. Remember i apped for the cc on a Saturday night so i knew id have to wait til the actual workweek. It really was an easy process and i thank them profusedly for opening up to vets. Thanks for serving , no matter the capacity and cant wait to read your approval story. AVJ

I would like to apply online for membership and possibly an initial credit card product with Navy Federal under there new honorably discharged provision.

For some of you who have applied online, what do I need to have on hand to ensure a smooth process? How long does the new member process usually take, from start to finish?

Thank you all in advance for your guidance and direction!

AverageJoes - Hmm my Dad got in with Navy a few months ago. We entered all his military paperwork in online and any other info on the app. It took a few days to process but it didn't require us sending/scanning anything over to them. So I'm not sure if this is a new process or just happens to a selected few?

Either way I hope OP gets in!

What about for Clocs ahs Plocs?

I'm self employed and sometimes it can be a challenge to prove my income.

Thanks!

Most of the time they don't ask for POI unless they feel something is shaky with it , self employed or other situations that they may want proof but for the most part I don't see many who ate asked. I am a Stay at home mom with only my Fiance's income and they asked me to explain but never wanted actual proof which I has ready to send but they never asked .

No probs Grill. I forgot to mention i did get the shared savings as i think thats required and since it was free, a checking account that i just received the debit card that has the visa logo and debit so thats a nice touch. I think i may have been able to have my TU appear abit better if i waited to bring down some balances but i got too excited on this and just wanted to group all my recent hps together. Im not sure if the saw my penfed card at 500 and said well we'll give him the same but in truth, not worried. I got in and i got a cc with poi and hopefully the beginning to a great relationship.

I was not asked for POI when I applied for the CLOC or my NFCU credit card. My plan originally was to apply for a membership with NFCU and then later on in the year to apply for a credit card with them. I didn't realize at the time that they would pull my credit report for the membership so after they pulled it for that I just went ahead and applied for the credit card.

@grillandwinemaster wrote:

@Anonymous wrote:
Grillandwinemaster - In my experience it's better to open the membership with a checking or savings then in April or May when your TU is primed then app for the credit card that would be my recommendation.

Thanks Matt.
