Approved! - CSR Approval odds?

With the CSR points promotion lowering to 50K online and seeing I still have a little bit of time to get 100K in branch I wanted to see others opinions if I should apply for the card or just wait it out longer till I raise my score more.

My CK scores are 679-680 and the last time i pulled a true FICO report, about eight months ago, I was anywhere from 645-680 depenind on bureau. Since my last FICO score I have opened 3 credit cards all with approvals and am currently at 4/24.

My cards are currently:

Capital One QS - $900 limit (Started with 500) and have had about 18 months

Southwest Premier $7000 (Opened 7 months ago)

Discover IT - $1500 (Opened December 31, 2016)

Chase Sapphire Preffered - $12,000 (Opened December 31, 2016)

I have a few baddies on my CR but those were all on when I was approved for the above cards. My payment history is 100%, AAoA is 6 years, Utilization is 8%, and I have good standing with my other revolving account on my BMW lease (Was approved for my lease 1 year ago at 645 fico).

My income is $137k/year and I rent an apartment that costs $700/month. I have 50K plus in checking/savings and was originally thinking about moving some money around and starting a Chase Savings/Checking account to get some of their new bonuses they are offering.

I don't see anything on my profile that would be an instant denial (I'm under the 5/24) and it seems like Chase likes my credit profile of some sort as they have approved me for $19K between two cards in the last 7 months.

I was thinking about going into a chase branch to see if I was pre approved for the CSR. Prior to getting my CSP I checked the online preapprovals and there was nothing. When I applied online that application took five seconds to approve and I got $12k instantly.

If you were in my shoes would you head to the branch and take a chance or would you wait it out until my score gets higher?

Thanks to all those who reply.

Just pulled MyFICO scores again and as far as scores go I'm anywhere from 645 - 711 depending on what model. The main scores that show on the home page are anywhere where from 645 - 665. The Fico 9 score, says most recent for credit cards, are all around 670. Sounds low to me to be approved for an elite card. It does look like when I was approved in December for the CSP my credit score was lower then it is now. Maybe I get approved since I have higher income for the amount of debt so my DTI is very low.

Thanks.

I was kind of thinking the same thing but thought I would check with others. I think I'm going to go to Chase tomorrow regardless to set up a different savings account and see if I'm preapproved. Like you said it's probably unlikely though. My thought process if I got the 7-10 day status was to call Recon and see if they could move some of my existing credit lines with Chase to the CSR. The 100K points is very attractive as I travel frequently.

Chase no longer does pre approvals for the CSR. I've seen data that people who get pre approved for the CSP have a good shot at the CSR so keep that in mind when they tell you what you're pre approved for. I'll tell you what I've told others...some cards are worth getting declined over and to me this is one.

I didn't know that. I have been reading a lot of threads about the CSR and some data points from Reddit as well about the in branch pre approval. Sounds like you are saying give it a shot and see what happens? Worst case it costs me a few fico points and I get declined. I don't plan on pulling my credit for awhile anyway so the few points won't matter I guess.

I also assume that if I put my same profile up and asked about applying for the CSP most would tell me that I would get declined as well but I got an instant 12K. Maybe Chases interenal scoring system matches up well with my DTI and some other factors. One way to find out I guess.
