You now have to wait 6 months in between CLI, after you just got one.

I know from what's posted around here for NFCU that they're generous with lending but, why isn't going from $500 to $15000 enough? That's 30X what you started at and beats the hell out of taking the slow road to redemption with other lenders that would only give you $500 a pop for a CLI normally. Sometimes it's fun to press your luck but, sometimes it's better to think about the bigger picture and not press your luck when they're being generous already.

NFCU strict? Show me any other lender that gives a CLI from 500 to $15,000 in 90 days. They have implemented time limits, in addition to the 90 days before CLI its now 6 months between CLI's. That is pretty standard for most lenders. Looking back to a little over a year ago my wifes account went from 500 to 6,500 to 10,000 in 90 days. Now that would take 9 months so I suppose it is more strict but less strict than any other lender I am aware of. Got a nice CLI for myself and my wife this morning, I went from 10k to 18k and my wife from 10k to 22k. I am not going to complain about that.

We tried to tell you the other time you posted a few days ago that you have to wait 6 mths between CLI now .. 15k is an amazing CL to have in just a short amount of time.. hang tight and you will get there

They gave my brother with only 1 AU account Reporting 4.6k.. no prior history. I don't think any other lender would have approved him for 1k but navy almost gave him a VS!

They still seem generous to me

Not to sound mean but any person would know if they read the pages that this 6 month CLI has been in place since around Fall of last year. I knew about this rule way before people caught on but sometimes posting on here isn't worth it if people are going to ignore the information, sometimes the best way to learn is let people fall on there face.

It's one of those things people say there is a 6 month rule in place but some will always test that theory out to see the truth, but get mad when they get the same outcome and then post about it. Cant complain if one goes from 500-14k or 1k to 17.5k. That's the type of stuff thats annoying about this forum. Sometimes you have to take that L and move on. Anytime someone hit that CLI with NFCU just have that thought that they will HP you and be happy when they don't.

NFCU is easy to get increases when you first start, it becomes more difficult once you reach the 20K mark to get to that 25k+ level. It only took 2 CLI for both my card to reach 22k and 24k but it's been stuck there for about 6 months. Thats the average time to go from a low limit to a 20k limit 2 CLI if your profile supports it, my wife files isnt completely clean so she has had more of a issue getting past 14k at the moment but she did open her's in 2015, but if your in a hurry like I was in 2014 and smashing that button then I hope you dont mind the extra 6-7 HP on your EQ or TU. This is from experience with my 2 CC, my wife 2 CC, my 2 family members with 2 also and 2 friends who has 2 CC also, we all have different profiles. We all got the initial increase into the high CL, but its been almost 6-12 months for any of us to try to cap it off at 25k and one of my friends has over 800 across the board with zero CC debt just his mortgage and auto loan.

I tend to keep the 6 month thing as a key point. That's just from going from 2-3 on my EQ in 2014 to having just about 15-16 from NFCU alone in a 2 year period trying every AR and hoping for the best. I learned that once your in take a 6 month approach unless you have no care for HP going forward with NFCU.

Yes, they do pull TU so check on that also. In my years with them, I myself have never been pulled by NFCU via TU except for the mortgage I was attempting with them. My wife has been hit on her reports on TU and EQ, her first CC was EQ, her 2nd was TU, her LOC was EQ and her personal loan was EQ. Her CLI have come via both EQ and TU pulls also along with the SP CLI.

Even if it does pull it doesn't reset at all, the recent change to account is the same Cap One/Citi language I get if I attempt before 6 months. The only thing is they still have a tendency (people have received HP to get that response, I never received a HP when I got that same response) to pull if you still attempt while Cap One and Citi wont HP you.

So please don't take my comments the wrong way, based on the limited information I know about you, my assumptions can only paint the picture. Starting out with a credit limit of $500 is a strong indicator of the portfolio you currently hold (especially for NF). Getting an increase to 15K is pretty darn good coming from $500. I'm not a lender and never worked in that capacity before, but I can make an assumption that in order to go north of that amount, one needs to justify that. Requesting another CLI within that short window has to be supported by tangible documents (ie..large purchases followed by full payoff) and an annual income that supports it. From a lenders perspective, without that, you look high risk and desperate. I've been with NF for about 11 months and only have the NF platinum. When I applied I called in and explained what I was looking for and why I wanted it, but I had a plan. My starting limit was 25K. I used the card pretty regularly and about 3 months ago I wanted an increase, not because I needed it, but because I planned on buying a house and wanted my utilization ratio to be top notch. I first messaged NF through my account and uploaded my annual income expressing my interest in an increase for my account. After responding back and forth through a few messages, I waited a few days and hit the button. I immediately made a call in person and explained my position and verified that they had all of my supporting documents. Within 24 hours I received a personal phone call and my limit was increased to 50K. I was even offered the opportunity in the future to transfer my account to the Flagship card because an increase beyond 50K wasn't possible on the current card I have. Now to be clear, I'm an average joe that makes a respectable income and my point is you need to justify your reasoning once you reach a certain point. So the 6 month rule is likely not relevant the higher you get.

Agreeing with other posters...
If one goes from $500 to $15k

You might think that 6-12 reporting cycles wouldn't be much to ask, in terms of just putting in some HISTORY.
We've gone to La La Land in terms of EXPECTATIONS

Seriously, a $500 SL generally speaks volumes of where a profile is and in what league it belongs in.

Mod edit: Let's keep things Friendly, Supportive, Respectful
