Discover CLI Denial Odd

So i started with a $300 CL on my Discover Secured card and 3 months later (October 2016) I asked for a CLI and sent an additional $400 making my CL $700.

In March 2017 the card was unsecured and on the 31st once the glitch was fixed I requested a CLI.

I was denied and the letter says it was because of insufficient experience with current Discover Credit Limit but I've had it since October with this limit so that makes no sense.

I have somewhat of a similar situation myself. I was getting cli's like clockwork at 90 days. Now I am at 120 days and I still get the insufficient experience denial as well.

I have the same thing with my Discover that got its last increase last November.

Tried requesting a couple times in March, and got the "insufficient experience" reason for denial each time. I'm hesitant to try again, not sure if that would/could raise red flags...? I'd think not, since it's just a soft pull by an automated system, but not sure.

Is it possible that Discover has recently decided to jump on the 6 month cli train?

Or do the banks know there is something major happening soon within the financial industry???? With Capital One suddenly getting strict with their CLIs, and now Discover seeming to not be as cli-friendly as they used to be?

Unless this Discover cli is isolated to only a few of us perhaps. But my card was never secured (or student), so I don't think that would be an issue in my case.

Although I did just do a PC recently from the Chrome to the IT, and that took effect after my last statement cut (March 6th). So maybe that reset the clock for my CLIs, maybe I have to wait 90 days from that date instead of my previous CLI?

Something is awry over there with Disco since they fixed the secured CLI issue 3/29.

I have reliably been hitting the button every other month since Aug and gotten something out of them to the tune of 22K+. 4/1 I hit the button and got an instant denial instead of the regular 2-day message due to the size of the CL. Since opening and getting past the first Auto and manual CLI I have reliably gotten the 2-day from them regardless of whether it would be approved or not. I'm probably going to call Lending and interrogate them about the change since the fix was applied a few days ago. Other users around here that have been collecting CLI's are getting the 3-5 day message as well that should be either instant / 2-day messages for account review. I tried a couple of devices to push the request through with the same results of nothing which rules out browser / device issues.

What's odd though is that some users reporting success are a mixed bag of secured and regular accounts which makes it hard to specifically cite that the issue is only on regular accounts at this point.

Bank info was the secured issue

Insufficient time is the spacing of requests

Insufficent experience for me at least would be the result when hitting the button sooner than every 60 days or so. Some have been able to hit it every 30/60/90 days w/o any insufficient messages coming back. The insufficient message seems to be triggered now instead of them doing the 2-day review on each account. It might be a change that was already in place but got a "reboot" with the secured fix.

If you could call lending and ask for a CLI over the phone 800-347-4856 and post your results that would be helpful in figuring out what's going on over there. This is the direct number to the analysts that actually process the requests and not the front line CSR's that tend to be clueless when it comes to anything more in depth regarding the underwriting side of things.

I called and they said there is nothing we can do your account management was good enough to Graduate you but not good enough to get an increased credit limit.

Yup, seems things have changed over at Disco. I questioned them on the Secured issue and they confirmed it was fixed and prodded them to see why they're issuing the 3-5 day on my personal request and they stated the insufficient time between requests and stated to try again in 30 days. I'm guessing those of us on the 60 day cycle are now on the 90 day or more cycle. This definitely throws a wrench into the mix for pushing the limit upwards in a timely manner.

Tried at 90 or 91 days today and denied where-as prior I was on the 90 day CLI... Something is possibly changing over there.. I still at my pathetic 3.5k CL on Discover. Will be in the SD until useful 5% quarter just more of a reason. Why they give people with big CL's small CL's and others right out of BK's 10k CL's still baffles me. All I can think about is loyaty they want to earn and be your "goto card" . they truely do not make sense and anyone whom thinks they can make sense of them I call hog wash .. I am certain they have a dart board and throw darts at the board for approvals and CLI's.

My card is a graduation card as well. Received 3-5 day message as well, letter today stated insufficient experience with credit limit ($750). April 19th will be Day 61. I'll try again then.

If this is the case, you'd think it would get rectified quite quickly. I mean, everyone that was doing the 2-day reviews for the last 3-4 days hasn't been getting any 2-day reviews to do. I'd imagine they would speak up and that someone would be working on the issue pretty quickly and it would be resolved promptly. The fact that it hasn't yet leads me to believe that they've changed their CLI policy. I definitely hope I'm wrong about that, though.

Well, I called them and expressed my concerns about there being an error since they applied the fix. If we're passive here and don't start calling them and just accepting it as a fluke change in the policy they'll not have any metrics to coincide with the change. Companies like METRICS to measure stuff. Just accepting the denials and not calling them out on it will lead to them just ignoring it.

Maybe what they did to fix the secured account issue was to generate a "new" unsecured account for everyone. So in a sense the system thinks that SL you have is only a few days old when the implemented the change.

We know accounts that were previously secured in their database has issues and the problem could be more widespread than we realize.
