Chase Amazon Recon?

Good Day MyFico family!

I was wondering if it was at all possible to recon a Chase Amazon denial based off of high utilization? I am assuming no, but just thought that I would check. The reason recently that my utilization is high was because of having to pay summer tuition for grad school before financial aid hits in a few weeks. Would it be helpful to use that information as well?

That is very true. Positivity is a great character trait and is important for overall health.

If your profile supports it (with exception to the high util.), I'd say go for the recon. Be honest and explain the high utilization - I tend to feel Chase analysts are empathetic, refer to them by name to establish a connection (lol). Seriously, it may work. IMO, I think the Chase Amazon is easier to get than their flagship cards or co branded travel cards. Good Luck!!

Go for the Recon. I recon'd my Slate card and it was easy. Be honest and make your case. Don't get angry or take offense. If they are talking, they are still considering. You spent the HP. Might as well make it worth it.

Definitely do that. You said your financial aid hits in a few weeks. Does that mean that your utilization will be significantly lower in a few weeks once that happens? If so, I'd definitely explain this to Chase when you call for the recon. Also, what's the time frame on a recon for those that know? Is it up to 30 days? If that's the case, you could possibly have your new, lower utilization reported by that time and can recon again say 3 weeks from now and even offer to have them pull you again as a last resort, which would allow them to see your lower utilization. Just a few things to consider.

Funny little sidestory here...I first app'd the Freedom over a year ago and got declined before I had read these forums enough to know not to apply to Chase with all the HP's I had. I called to recon it and the girl told me my credit needed work and I should visit myFICO.com to get a wealth of knowledge on how to handle my credit. I was not amused at the time.

@BrutalBodyShots, I wish that I was able to say with full confidence that the financial aid would be disbursed in time to recoup what I have spent...but that would be like trying to herd cats!

Nah don't be afraid. they are real easy to talk too and my credit was in worse shape than yours. You got it made. You only have to talk down UTIL, that is not that hard at all.

Cool and calm. You think better that way. High UTIL is an easy one. Payments have been made, things are in motion to reduce it, but you don't want to waste this hard pull and chance to get in with them on such a great card.
