Would you ever exceed the 1500$ for category spend per quarter limit on the Discover it, say when you are shopping for stuff on Amazon during holidays? It is in situations like this one that a second 5% card comes in handy. Also, the categories themselves are sometimes different for the Freedom and the it. If you don't want to get into all this, and don't spend too much on categories, you can go for the FU, it is a good general spend card.

I called about possibly upgrading my Chase Slate card to something with rewards and the lady told methey looked at my account and they could offer me either Freedom or Freedom Unlimited? Which should I choose? Since I already have a card with 5% in rotating categories in the Discover It, I am leaning towards the Freedom Unlimited. Thoughts?

IMHO - you need to have a CSP/CSR to effectively use the URs from Chase Freedom. Cap One QS is another card that you may want to consider.
