I don't recall seeing any success stories of recon on SLs and $800 means it was a marginal approval. As Gmood1 said, log into your account and request a new credit line of $2400 when you activate the card. If turned down, ask 61 days after you get the card. If turned down, ask 91 days after that. Then mark your calendar to ask for $7200 (or 3x your limit if they gave you less than $2400) 181 days after that, and $21,600 181 days after that, etc...

Wait till card arrives and try 3x CLI after activation. There's a guide in the application forum. I've never seen anyone recon SLs with Amex.. doesn't mean it's not possible though.

I am in a similar position. Got the Premier Gold last week and saw that there was a 250 sign-up bonus for the Blue Cash Everyday. So I signed up and was approved for 1000 dollars. I make 180k a year so this is not much. I did the score simulator on Credit Check Total and adding a new account did not effect my score.

My Experian FICO is 701. So I am guessing it is the 17 new cards since January that is what is holding me back from higher limits. Also AU on 68k of cards from my wife. Utilization less tthan 5 percent.

If people don't have success with recon's at activation is it worth doing? Will Amex care that you seem to be begging for more credit? Sorry if this threadjacking but I added my wife as authorized user but didn't put her birth date or ssn down. Will that keep it off her report? I want her to be elibigle for another Chase card.

@K-in-Boston wrote:

I don't recall seeing any success stories of recon on SLs and $800 means it was a marginal approval. As Gmood1 said, log into your account and request a new credit line of $2400 when you activate the card. If turned down, ask 61 days after you get the card. If turned down, ask 91 days after that. Then mark your calendar to ask for $7200 (or 3x your limit if they gave you less than $2400) 181 days after that, and $21,600 181 days after that, etc...

i started off with a low CL on my BCP which turned into a bce, just gradually increased it every few months so if you are patient. You can increase your CL that way.
