Is the new PNC Cash Rewards worth it?

I'm tempted by the new PNC Cash Rewards card...

4% gas
3% dining
2% groceries
1% elsewhere

No AF, $8000 annual cap for the > 1% categories. Currently a 100/1000 offer through 8/31.

Anybody else tempted to get this? I'm also looking for data points to see if I'd be approved. I'm also curious as to how CLI's work with them. Thanks!

I have no firstt hand information, but I'm tempted by it too. I just got two new cards last month so I'll wait a while before I get this one, but it seems like a good one. I don't spend that much money so the yearly spending limit shouldn't be a major problem. 4% on gas is great. So is 3% on resturants. At least for me as those are two of my major spending categories. It's probably going to be my next card.

Citi Costco has the first two covered. BCE does the groceries. I think I have it covered. But, I usually use Marvel on restaurants since it is more reliable in delivering the 3%...

By all means try to garner more info about PNC as you possibly can from members who have any of their cards as well as read the forums through a SEARCH to dig out solid answers.

I say all of that to say this. PNC was the only lender where i got a denial and it was told me at the time that they almost always require that you have some banking relationship with them first.

Now that being said things may have changed and again maybe they are still strict on that. I simply can't offer you a solid answer but there are others here who most definitely can.

Just trying to save you from possibly wasting a HP. Could be wrong too. They might have relaxed that criteria by now but it was for sure when i applied well over a year ago that was a reason.

CreditMagic7 is correct.....I have been with PNC for years and before them National City.....They are a conservative bank, but if you have a banking relationship with them, and your credit is borderline, they are more likely to extend credit to you.
