I heard that Barclays will automatically deny your application if you have an open collection. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not.

They are more INQ sensitive than anything else. Maybe apply for the Apple rewards card if concerned.

I paid off two collections and was approved by Barclay a month after that with a 697 FICO. $3k Arrival Plus and $2k Apple Rewards.

My Apple rewards card was opened with a 6 year old CO as well and a score of 603 at the time. I can't speak for their other cards as I had a Upromise (no longer have it) I apped for when my file became clean.

my collections were from 2011 & 2012 and my FICO went up from 647 to 697

They just approved me for $5K on sunday and then Recon'd for 3x CLI the same day to $15k total. Good luck on yours

I aasume Barc does not have a pre approval site anymore. Try Chase or Citi first

My friend ended up applying for the card on their site. He got the 7-10 day message then went on to check the status of the application a few hours later. He was declined and a letter will be sent with the reason for the decline. He called recon a few days later was immediately transferred to Security and spend about 10 minutes answering questions to verify identity then transferred by to an analyst. They reveiwed the application asked about some paid charge off from a few years ago and did not mention the open collection (which is from 2012) then approved him for with a SL of $7K. I was suprised that he was approved.

this is false, I was approved for the rewards mastercard with a judgement and a collections on my credit. they are new credit sensitive. I also just got their aviator card but with the judgement paid but still have the open collections from 2012 I also got approved with a transunion around 670

They aren't new credit sensitive. I Got my second Barclay card the Aviator Plus with 17 new accounts in the prior 6 months.
