So is it correct to assume you applied for the FU to transfer some of your existing balances? I can't help but notice that you already have the Slate card which is essentially Chase's balance transfer card although I imagine that you'd be hit with a 5% BT fee if the Slate is older than 60 days.

What I see is Chase attempting to limit its exposure by granting you a small CL on the FU. You'd be better off paying down your existing balances before applying for more credit or perhaps you can find a more forgiving lender but 40% raises red flags when most lenders consider 30% or less utilization as responsible credit usage.

Based on the assigned SL, it appears you barely made the cut OP.

You can call for a SL reconsideration, however it will be another HP and with no guarantee any CLI will be granted.

Chase may feel, based on UW guidelines and your income that this is the most they can lend to you at this time.

Looking at your overall utilization, the $500 Slate the $9,200 CSP, I would say that you are at max exposure with Chase right now.

Pay down your balances, then reallocate some of the limit from your CSP to give you some breathing room on the Freedom Unlimited.
