Chase Southwest App at 9/24, Do I have a chance?

I've opened 9 accounts in last 24 months, but I've been receiving Southwest credit card offers in the mail every month or so for a long time.

I'd love to get a SW credit card because I fly SW all the time, but I've read here that Chase frowns on anything more that 5 new accounts in 24 months.

Should I app?

If not, what cards are best to App for for someone like me in the 9/24 category?

It is subject to the 5/24 rule. Don't bother since you'll waste a HP.

Likely not a chance. Keep in mind that the Southwest mail offers are not pre-approved offers, just an invitation because you fly Southwest (and I actually don't think opt out prescreen can stop these mails, would like someone else more experienced with this to confirm). This card does have the 5/24 restriction when applying.

Just being the devil's advocate here - do you actually need a new card? From your siggy it looks like you have plenty. If the Chase Southwest RR is the card you actually want, why not just slow your roll so that you can qualify for it?

I'd just hate for you to apply for something you don't want/need and then have app regret particularly when it will push your eligibility for what it seems like you really want (Chase SW RR) further down the line.

I do need some additional credit. Whether it comes from Southwest Chase or someone else maybe isn't as critical.

There's definitely an element of excitement and fun that comes with this whole board and the challenge of getting certain cards and limits, and I'm guilty of enjoying that for sure

Waiting 18 months to apply for any other cards just to get a Southwest card seems like a reaaaaaaaaaaaaly long time, and I would be missing out on getting other cards and building credit with them.

Hopefully there is another way... This board is so creative, there's got to be some solution out there.
