I get mail offers from them about every week, getting quite annoying honestly. I've thought about it, but felt the AF wasn't offset enough by the perks. It, IMO, is a rather limited rewards system compared to others. The only reason i considered it was that I primarily fly on Alaska, so i thought it would be useful. I just prefer a card that has a more universal reward setup to use anywhere, Instead of just one specific Airline.

Here's a data point for you, not sure what to make of it. I also wanted this card, so cold-apped for it about the 13th. The next day a flyer arrived with a response code, but on the day I apped I didn't have/use it. Last CC was a bit over 8 months ago. Only inq since was a cell phone contract.

Score pulled was EXP, 765 that day, and 778 today. No anything bad on my reports. Hard pull, resulting denial. I did not recon. I also have a 6 figure income, and my utilization was a bit high at that time at about 11% that day, but I had paid about 30K the previous month, so I figured they could do the math and see it really wasn't that much owed.

At any rate, the letter cited two reasons: 1. Number of Inquiries, and 2. Something about no prior business relationship. That was all that was cited, along with the FICO score. I have about 7-8 inquiries total for the last two years, so maybe they didn't like that. I am really thankful they didn't give me that crappy non-signature version of the card. Hope this helps somewhat.

I am going to be applying for the Spirit Airlines MasterCard pretty soon. Based on what I'm reading here, since I have at least 7 hard inquiry since July and will be getting two more before I apply for this card in June or July, perhaps I should open a checking account with Bank of America now to help establish a relationship and increase my odds of approval in lieu of getting denied because of all of the hard inquiries

I was thinking 💭 of opening an account as well as they seen inquiry sensitive and like banking relationships apparently. But I already opened a PenFed, And chase account in order to try to get in with chase. Besides my primary bank. I apparently owed them some money from an old account I had years back. No problems openingan account or using my coupon for $300 to open a checking. I had to pay 💰 $225 but with the coupon, it’s like they paid themselves and still gave me $75.

I think it’s partners with Cathay airlines virgin America and now some japan airlines. The companion pass is what I’m in it for. I’m in the west coast sfo area so their presence is pretty good. Not to mention emerits airline.
