Card: Amex Blue Cash Everyday

I'm thinking of applying for this card. The terms state balance transfers must be from accounts in my name. I am wanting to open this account in my name and balance transfer from my husband's Chase Freedom, on which I am an authorized user.

We've done balance transfers from my cards to his and vice versa before, with no issue, but I've never read the terms this closely. Is this something Amex actually enforces, or will it be processed with the account number and amount, as we've done with multiple other cards?

Even the CC banks do not care, it is still not right to transfer balance to somone's name. The AU can be spouse, ex-spouse, children, or parents or grant-parents. There can be legal issues with separation or death (old people) etc....

The OP and married and from what I've read she wants to move debt from her husbands account to that of her own. Which most companies couldn't care less. I'm not sure how Amex views this but as mention, most companies I've had the pleasure of dealing with doesn't care. As for the legality of it, there is no issue...they're married.

I'm not sure what you mean. My husband and I are married, there's no right or wrong of it. We are simply looking to transfer a balance on his Freedom card to a new balance transfer card in my name.

As I said, we've done this before, but Amex's terms specifies that it has to be from an account in my name (whereas I'm looking to transfer the balance from a card in his name, on which I'm an AU). I'm just wondering how concrete that is, or if they actually process balance transfers the way most other companies I've dealt with do, where they only ask for the account number and amount.

Just an update. I ended up going with the Everyday card, rather than the Blue Cash Everyday, since it offered no fee for balance transfers. The terms for that card also did not specify anything about the transfer having to be from an account in my name. I was instantly approved for 15,000, my largest limit yet, and the process was exactly the same as it's always been when doing balance transfers between other cards. I would bet it's done the same for the first Blue Cash Everyday card. Just in case anyone else ever wonders the same thing I did.

Good to know that it works well for you.

The benefits I can think about are the promotions for balance transfer, such no interest for certain months, or no balance transfer fees. Normally there are hefty transfer fees (like 3%) and high interest rates on balance transfer.

I just requested a transfer from my wife's credit card account, and American Express approved it in just a few minutes.

I have Blue Cash Everyday, and it had that same line in the terms saying they only transfer from a card in my name.

I figured if they didn't approve it I would just add my wife as an authorized user, and then make the transfer. Or, I could add myself to my wife's account I was transferring from.

My wife took my name when we got married so my name is on her card anyway
