Their co-branded cards have different underwriting. Of you received a pre-qual, youre not blacklisted with the kohl's. You can try to pre-qual on Cap1's site also if you want to see if they have you early forgiveness.

I put in my info and it says:

Congratulations, (my name)! You’re pre-qualified for a Kohl’s Charge.

Then it gives me a pre-qualification code and offer expiration date. I've never had a charge card, always thought they were harder to get.

Background info, BK7 discharged a little over 4 months ago. I did not IIB this card, not sure who the issuer is, but I did burn Comenity, Synchrony, Capital One, and Amex. Scores in signature. Everything reporting correctly. Should I go for it? Looking for cards to help my rebuild.

I am sure others will weigh in but that offer is pretty solid. I say that because I work part time during Xmas season at Kohl's and this same offer would come up for some customers during checkout and i never saw one denied it may be only $300 credit limit but at least it is something. Secondly, Kohl's is backed by CapOne so they are pretty solid and it is a way to get your foot in the door for your dream wallet.

Oh, they're Capital One too? I think I am blacklisted with them until next month. I had an account that was charged off last June, before I filed BK. Each time I apply with them now, they don't even pull my credit. I read they will let you back in after a year from original charge-off date, not sure if that's for their store cards too.

Hmm, just tried the prequal on their main site again. No offers. I think I'll wait til next month, I'd rather a bank card over a store card.
