topic MLife Rewards Mastercard-FNBO (Updated) in Credit Card Applications

Finally decided to app for this card after much thought. We do Vegas at least twice a year and I have M-Life membership. I also have a long held credit card with FNBO. I thought the app would be easy and instant approval. I received message: "You will hear from us via US Mail in 2 to 4 weeks." I thought, what kind of non sense is this? I have not applied for any cards in 2 years and my TU Fico 8 is 744. I'm in California, they pull TU here for CLI and new cards.

I called customer service. The IVR had no record of the application. Spoke with a nice CSR, older lady from Nebraska. She sounded like Grandma She said the card is a newer card offering for them and sometimes the apps don't come through immediately. She did as much checking as she could and could not find it. She reassured me that it just hadn't been entered into their system yet. She looked at my existing profile and said I see no reason why it would not be approved. Be patient and call back Friday. We should see it by then and know if it was approved. Well, it was nice Grandma so I was nice and said OK and thank you.

I know their web site portal for my existing card seems a little antiquated. So, maybe this is the case that it just did not flow through yet. Strange though, FNBO is a pretty big card issuer. Any thoughts or experiences with this folks?

Update 6/6/18: Recevied a cryptic (very generic) email from FNBO: We have received your application which is pending approval. If approved you can expect to receive your card within 7 to 10 days. If you were instantly issued a credit card, congratulations, you can begin to use your card immediately.

...Kind of crazy..compared to the other banks. Also, they pulled Experian which surprised me. All good though the FICO is a little higher on that one.

6/6/18: Another update: I logged into my M-Life account. My status level upgraded and the SUB points have posted. So I guess I was approved. Need to wait for card n the mail, with the limit and then I will post on Approvals. Crazy FNBO!

This is pretty standard for FNBO, nothing new. Some applications can have instant approvals while others go through additional verification or get declined.

It typically takes a day or so for the application to display its status online.
