Chase CSP offer in account - take it or wait?

I've been working hard on rebuilding my credit, and i'm expected to get my score to 700 with the next update - which was a goal of mine, on my way to getting the CSP for upcoming expenses. I am ideally looking for the CSP with a limit of around $10k, and just today I saw the offer in my Chase account. I currently hold the Freedom, and have since February 2018.

Do I take the offer from Chase, as soon as I hit 700 (I just paid down my Freedom to $0 for the credit report update) in hopes of approval, then double dip and apply for the CSR? Has anyone been denied after applying through one of these Chase offers? Would love to know what to do next! Thank you!

From what I understand, You can only have 1 Chase Sapphire product at a time; either a CSP or a CSR, but not both. I could be wrong, though...

You can only hold one sapphire product at the same time. If you want the reserve just apply for the reserve. There's basically no sense in having both anyway

Yes, while you can only hold one Sapphire, you are able to double dip and apply for both on the same day - if approved for both, you can get around it. I would do this for the signup bonuses as both cards offer $50k.

If you are expecting your score to hit 700, then wait until that happens and apply for the card that you like then. That way you can get a better SL and APR.

There are multiple threads on here where experts have broken down the cost-benefit analysis between the CSP and the CSR cards.

And yes, you can only have one Sapphire product at one time.

I don't know where you're getting this information but you're likely to be very dissappointed if you think you can double-dip on UR Points.

Hi OP,

1. You can only have 1 sapphire product, if you apply for the CSR after the CSP (if you get approved), you will get denied.

2. if you get denied for the CSP, most likely you'll get denied for the CSR

3. IF you get approved for both, will you be able to meet the spending of $4k for the CSP and $4k for the CSR? That's $8k in three months

4. No sense of having both

It’s not on points - but you are able to apply for both sapphires on the same day and if approved, you can have both. There are many threads about people doing just this to get both sapphires.

It's not on points? what do you mean?

It's a hit or miss, not guarantee to get both. Report back when you apply.

I’ve followed and kept up on a lot of churning boards - and yes, this is something people do and get approved for (both cards at the same time). While you obviously can’t double dip points over two cards you can apply for two on the same day. Spending $8k in 3 months is simple for me, especially due to upcoming expenses I want to maximize.

That’s not even what the point of this thread is, though - what I’m curious about is if I should take the offer now or wait (do they go away?) and if anyone has been denied by Chase after having an offer for a card.

Ummm that would depend on the bonus being offered...is it 60k? If that's the case, i would wait for the scores to go higher and wait on the 100k offer on the CSR. That's just me :-)

If the offer is there, they must see something on your profile they like, so in that regard, go for it. A trick i've done before when applying for two cards, fill out the applications on both, submit one then immediately go the other tab and submit the second one.

OP, can you give some data points so we can get a better idea of whether it’s a good idea to apply now? I was recently approved for a CSP in March with not so great scores. It was probably due to my history with Chase.

My final comment on this topic. You are incorrect; since August 2017 new applicants for Sapphire cards are not permitted to have more than one. Those cardholders who had more than one Sapphire card before August 2017 were "grandfathered" in and are not affected by the change.

Even if you close the CSP? What if you had the CSP and PC to Freedom? will one then be eligible to apply for CSR?

You can product change from a CSP to CSR and vice versa if eligible but you will not get another UR bonus.

"The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products."
