Chase Pre Approved Green Check mark

I'm well over 5/24. Currently hav a CSP (16.9K) and have a relatively new installment loan with Chase, nothing more.

Wasn't looking to do any app's, no reason to add to my moderate inquiry level.

But the green check mark offer with fixed interest came up for CFU and I clicked.

Got the 30 day in writing canned response. Hmmmmm...

They instantly hit TU, two days later got notice they tried EX, but that was locked.

Called Chase to ask if they needed any information or had questions, ....after the simple verification got told to wait for written response.

**7 days later = Nothing showing on my online portal, no emails, nothing in the mail. Not sure where this will go.

@MachoHombre that sounds like a possible denial due to a locked credit file. I'd wait until you get the letter and then decide whether it may be worth calling to recon (with an unlocked EX of course).

I decided to call and get the bad you and I anticipated. Sure enough, declined and the reason they gave was the (6) inquiries in 2018 alone combined with the recent credit cards requested and granted. I agreed but gave polite explanation (building thin file and wanted to pair the Freedom with my Sapphire)

...and I asked if any positve options at this point ...opening the door for them to do something.

She politely she said "no", other than a full reconsideration which is another set of eyes and it typically takes 10 days. I have little hope, but figure nothing lost in attempting so I asked her to do so and reminded them to contact me with any questions.

**Data points for others:

The green check mark offer with single APR is **NOT** a slam-dunk guarantee.

In hindsight I would not have app'd. At the time it smelled too good to be true and I should have followed my gut. I had recently finished quite a spree. I put too much confidence in the forum banter of green check mark and single APR.

While hindsight is always golden, no regrets and it's time to chill ....and maybe my experience here can help others.

There's still hope. Like another poster stated maybe unlock your EX. They always pulled both for me before approval.

Also if you're open to it, you could ask if you could move some of your current credit line over to open the new card? Just a thought

Sorry to hear this. Garden for 6mo, try again when you get the next GreenCK offer. The 6moNo apps seems to be solid advice, 5mos worked for me.

How big was your app spree?

I didn't think of that. Hmmmm, I'll consider it, but likely will politely recon the 2nd rejection and then put it to bed.

I knew it was time to chill, I had no inclination to do an app, but the trappings of a supposedly slam-dunk was too much. Lesson learned.

I think its a verification issue and the fact that your EX was locked. I would call the status line over the next couple of days.

Pardon my Chase ignorance, but where do these famous green check mark offers show up? Is it when you are logged in to your account and just click on the "your offers" tab or is everyone actually filling out the credit card pre qualification form regularly and checking?

Green check mark offers can show up in at least five places. The primary location(s) for these offers is your Chase Online account and the Chase Mobile app. In both cases you can see your green check mark offers by clicking Explore Products > Your Offers.

You can also see any possible green check mark/Selected for you offers by going to Chase's credit card prequalification link: https://www.chase.com/prequalified . Offers there are specifically for credit cards but the online account and mobile app can have a wider range of offers. Personally, I've never gotten green check mark offers in my accounts but was able to find them through the prequalification tool.

If you have an existing relationship with Chase you can go to a branch location and a personal banker or teller can look up your information and tell you if they are any existing offers. The approach I've used successfully was to look for offers with the prequalification tool, then go to the bank to actually verify the offer.

Of course there are also mailers but I haven't received one from Chase in a long time.

Here is the letter, no mention of Experian being locked. Even with the green checkmark and static interest rate on the offer, i was declined ...no doubt my recent spree got their attention. As I mentioned before I should have gone with my gut, instead I put too much value in the green checkmark offer being a slam-dunk.

Not sure how I'll recon this letter, but likely will give it a whirl, but I don't have much faith.

Sorry about the denial OP. Thanks for providing us with an update.

It seems you’re on the fence...I’m not sure I’d rock the boat with another recon call. It seems your profile is strong with that great score. Hopefully, you get more green check mark offers in a few months after the new accounts and inquires have settled. I hope this experience won’t cause you apprehensi when the checks inevitably come back.

For the rest of us at least, it’s more clear that the green check marks with single APR is similar to any other prequalified offer. It’s an offer at a specific time in one’s credit cycle and if too much changes it can certainly change the course of an approval.

And for me, I’m just waiting for a ✅. It’ll never come, I’m sure. Chase hates me and I don’t blame them. Lol.

No, I don't think that is entrirely accurate. I have new information that will validate why and I'll post up details soon when I get hard copy of letter from them.

**punchline is that the green checkmark may give a good indication, but it is far from a slam dunk and in my case they baited me into applying, denied me (nothng had changed) and then used my app on the offer against me on another account.

What I said above alluded to the green check marks not necessarily being slam dunks, especially if there are credit profile changes from the time when a green check mark is extended.

I thought you’d mentioned a recent accumulation of new cards prior to applying for a Chase card with green marks. That would indicate a change in credit profile from the time when the green check mark was offered.

Are you implying that Chase froze your other accounts and are doing a review pending possible closure?

What I said above alluded to the green check marks not necessarily being slam dunks, especially if there are credit profile changes from the time when a green check mark is extended.
I thought you’d mentioned a recent accumulation of new cards prior to applying for a Chase card with green marks. That would indicate a change in credit profile from the time when the green check mark was offered.

If the OP accumulated cards within a short period of time, like within a month or two, that would pretty much overturn a pre qual offer.
