Friends,

My EQ is currently frozen and I would have to remove the freeze that I put on it via mail. Can anyone recommend a good Visa card that pulls from EXP or TU?

My scores are in the low 700s, I currrently have one card: an Amex Everyday with a $5000 CL

I used to be a Dave Ramsey user and recently got back into using Credit Cards. I just got approved for the Amex Everyday this month.

In the past, I've had: Amex Blue Cash Everyday, Amex Plat, Amex Delta Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, US Bank Plat, WF Plat Rewards, Discover IT, Citi Hilton Signature. All are still on my file and all were closed at my request when I was doing Dave Ramsey, no late payments or derogs ever. All time high scores were in the 830s.

My preference would be something simple (no annual fee) like Citi Simplicity or Chase Freedom. Just looking for a good, dependable, everyday Visa card.

Advice?

Google "credit pulls database" enter your state of residence and see which bureaus are mostly pulled for your state. In my experience, EQ was rarely pulled. Amex pulls EX exclusively and lenders like Chase & BofA double-pulled EX and TU. The one exception is Capital One which will pull all three bureaus.

OP: BoA appears to prefer EX, and Barclays pulls TU almost religiously.

On the subject of Dave Ramsey... It's funny before I watched his videos I was completely anti-Ramsey. The thing you have to keep in mind, is his target demographic tends to be people who aren't the most credit-savvy and have quite a bit of (credit card) debt. Put into context, I think his message to "cut up all [your] cards" isn't entirely terrible, especially since some of his audience just seem to have severe self-control issues when it comes to credit.

If you ignore his occasional self-righteousness and marketing and filter away the fluff, at his core the message is very simple -- live within (or preferably, below) your means, don't waste money on useless <STRIKE>junk</STRIKE> status symbols, save for a rainy day, and you most definitely DON'T need that fancy 50K sports car that will put you 40K further in debt. Although I don't agree with his "no credit" spiel, I do think he genuinely wants the best for his audience and actually wants them to become more financially responsible.

I think as with every "internet guru" out there, the key is to no just rely on him as the sole source of financial advice, and to always take what he says in moderation.

Thank you all.

For what it's worth, Dave did actually make me more financially aware, but I feel like he's too extreme on the subject of credit cards. I did pay off my debt and my house, though, so it's a good thing all in all. I've never carried credit card debt, but I did likely spend too much on them, so getting back to CCs is a bit of a balancing act for me.

@Anonymous wrote:

Advice?

US Bank Cash + visa/visa siggy. they pulled TU for me, im in Ohio. Chase pulled TU for me also for Freedom unlimited.
