As mentioned upthread, while the SP language may be present when submitting the CLI, it doesn't always translate into an approval. There can be any number of reasons.

If your spouse's account is enrolled in electronic notifications, then you can review the letter to determine what reasons were cited for not being able to get the CLI. On the plus side, it was a SP so one could always try next time around.

Citi DC Soft Pull Increase “Letter”?

I lucked out and got a CLI using Citi DC soft pull method online. We tried it with my spouse and they were denied. At the time of the CC application we did not include my salary with theirs but for the soft pull increase we did (it clearly says you can do that so we did that).

DENIED: says a written explanation will be provided in 10 days. Is this the norm? Will Citi request pay docs? I would pursue it with my spouse but we don’t want to incur a hard pull.

My spouse has a measly ~$1000 limit with household income approaching $100,000. Unfortunately my spouse is even lucky to have the Citi DC because they had a 650 FICO at time of application.

Citi wouldn’t take away their card would they? So far Citi has lost money on the both of us. $100 sign up bonus. PIF every month. Price Rewind. Never incurred a cent of interest. My spouse has had the card about 3 months.

Take away the card? Nope — If the increase request was within 6 months of opening it’s auto deny.

I opened a Citi DC card on 4/30/18 and got a $8,000 CLI on 7/4/18; the option to request a CLI was available for a few weeks before I decided to use it.

The period between CLIs is 6 months. I'm aware of that because I tried to get a second CLI which was declined and I got a letter from Citi a few days later.

Was trying to be fancy and remain gender neutral to the keep the anonymity. “They” would be my spouse. If I say too much in posts such as gender and exact credit limits. That combined with stories and questions from my other threads/posts... people could figure out who I am possibly when I recommend them to this forum.

Not that I say anything bad or real private. I just try to remain as anonymous as possible.
