Does your brother want to open a new credit card account or are you pushing him to do so? I find that it is very hard to get people to do things like this, even though it is beneficial. My best advice is to let him post on his own behalf. Learning about why managing his credit by himself is important.

We looked at my brother's credit yesterday and he has a TU Fico 08 score of 747, only trade line reporting is an authorized user card of mine, Discover with 19.5k CL that has been reported since 6/2016.

He's not too savy on CC's, but what would be a good CC option for him, given that he has a good score but no credit history of his own.

Thanks

Try discover or amex preapproval site , they both love thin files

^This.

My SO was in the same situation as your brother. She had a similar score to your brother’s from being an AU on one of my credit cards. She was able to get the Amex BCE, albeit with a $500 SL. Amex loves thin files, and their credit card limits grow quickly with responsible usage.

Neither Discover or Amex gave any pre-approval's when he checked on their websites. I know Amex didn't give me any pre-approval's either before I applied for the BCE a few year's ago, and was still approved with a SL of $11,500. May have him give Amex a go, the new Cash Magnet card would probably suite his need's rather well.

My SO was in the same situation about a year ago being an AU on maybe 3 cards of mine for years.

Capital One is also another choice to try

If all else fails, victorias secret is almost a given.although not a credit card but store card.
