How often to request Discover CLI?

I just got my Discover card 3 months ago and requested CLI which was approved.

I'm wondering, how often should I do this?

I know you have to wait 30 days before a CLI is granted, but should I really request once a month?

Would it benefit me to wait it out a little longer?

try calling in to see if they will give you anymore cli its called a double dip and you can request as often as you want but i find for me personally i get one every 3 statements

Discover seems to be pretty generous with CLI. My short history is as follows:

Opened on April 25th, 2018 $5000

Credit Limit Increase on July 9th 2018 +1,500 = $6500

Credit Limit Increase on October 7th 2018 +3,000 = $9500

My experience with Discover has always been auto, about once a year, they increase it by about 3000

I opened mine in February this year and got my first increase in May. Then got another in July, August and September. None in October though so I guess my monthly increase is over Good Luck!

Edited to add: My first was auto, all the others I requested. I was able to get a DD by calling in on the July and August ones.

The general consensus seems to be that there's no harm in hitting the luv button as often as you like. I've requested a CLI every time a statement cuts after the first 90 days and will continue to do so. Others will have more informed input than me, but I've not read anything suggesting that Discover sees frequent CLI requests as a bad thing.

I got my card in June with a $9500 SL. I just did an automatic CLI and got $500. I called to try and get more and they told me I had to wait 30 days. I may try again in Dec....just before Christmas! I'm almost at 40% untilization with them. I'm working on paying it down. 0% interest til Oct 2019! Sweeeeeet!

You are most likely to see big cli. Getting big sl and then actually using it tends to lead to bigger cli , like 2-5k increases

You can hit the button as often as you like but will only get approved when you are eligble. I seem to only ever get $500 every 3 months. Truely a YMMV situation

It makes NO sense to hit the button more than once a month.. Because they update your scores once a month with a SP .. if you try for a CLI before that,, they use the previously pulled score.. if you try for a CLI after that.. they use the fresh pull...

Any more than once a month is just a waste of paper, and makes you look desprate....

IME, when I requested in 3-mo intervals, I got between $1 & 1.5K. When I requested in 6-mo intervals, I got $3K. But here’s a huge caveat. When I requested CLI but wasn’t putting much spend on the card between Nov 2016 & March 2017, I got $0 (3 declines). Reason was something to the effect of not enough experience with CL. So, In my case, as long as I was putting spend on the card, Disco was good to me.

For me it is whenever I want to see:

"Insufficient experience with the current limit" on a denial letter.

Personally, I do it once a month but last 2-3 times, it's been a denial. Even though I don't put much usage on it, I did do a small BT on it that I've been carrying. I wonder if I pay it off completely and then see if I can get a CLI.

Once a month, usually after the statement cuts. My first card I got a generous SL, and generous CLIs to double it in the first 1.5 years. The second one with a small SL got doubled after 90 days. Some months I get something, some nothing but I find as long as I put steady amount on it ($$$$ spend is not needed) they will eventually give me a nice CLI.

They seem to have me on a 3 month cycle. I hit the button and they offer roughly $1500 every 90 days. I’m up to $12,300 (started at $5k until an auto cli after a year), and I don’t use it often (once every three months on a tank of gas or something).
