I am gardening until 2020 for a Chase 5/24 card and so I am jonesing a little about additional cards. I was looking at Amex's cards and I am now preapproved for any card that they offer. I got the ED CC in July with a SL of $4,000 and 61 days later a CLI to $12,000. So if I understand correctly, you can request CLIs every 181 days afterward?

My question is how soon after a CLI can you app and be approved for an Amex card? Are they mutually exclusive or are there restrictions in getting CLI and approvals within 180 days of each other?

They don't have anything to do with each other. CLI requests are 91 days from a denial, 181 days from an approval, and I believe that's for all cards so if you request for one card, the wait covers all your others. Rules for apping is 1 revolver in a 5 day period, 2 revolvers in a 90 day period. If you're showing pre-approved and not "expand your membership", it's pretty much a given.

Thanks, Brian.

Amex says,

Medic981, you are pre-approved!

Get a decision in as little as 30 seconds.

But if I want my Chase 5/24 CC I must garden until at least September 2019.

181 days is beyween Amex cli approvals. My understsnding if you request a cli and its not granted, that resets the 91 day window off a denial. You must then wait another 91 days to request a cli.
