In order to get the upgraded World of Hyatt Credit Card I had to close my legacy Hyatt credit card. Had the regular Hyatt card from January 2015, and enjoy various Hyatt stays, so the act of closing that account, a few days ago, was and still is nerve-wracking. I am at 4/24, but with the general Chase lockouts, any transition from one known card to another desired card at Chase has some risk.

Closed the Hyatt card less than a week ago, without transferring the $12k CL to any other cards.

Closed the Marriott card when I upgraded AMEX SPG to SPG Lux a few months ago. $6k CL not transferred to any other cards.

Got CSP with $30k in early January 2018. Will keep it as a CSP for now, not certain when I will upgrade it to CSR.

My Freedom card was auto CLI recently from $1,500 to $3,000. That CLI was nice, they CLD me several years ago, from $3,500 or so, in two steps, down to the $1,500.

Freedom Unlimited is $11,200. Pre-merger account opened in 2001. Was a Slate for years, PC to FU in April 2018.

Chase Checking account is my main cash account, so gets a lot of volume (for me).

I had been debating when to do the app. It is now technically December 1, so very early Saturday morning, so we will see what the UW says

If they get me the card, I will love it and pet it, and carry it in my pocket. ( Lenny, "Of Mice and Men")

Seriously, the $15k annual spend to get another annual free night is going to be happening.

1) Free night certificate with the card

2) $15k to earn another free night certificate

3) That $15k spend by itself earns enough points for the free night on typical places to stay,

so essentially 3 free nights with the spend.

DW closed her IHG card and apped for the Hyatt a couple of months ago.

They closed her current cards for inquiries and new accounts. (You probably didn’t want to hear that right now).

She couldn’t care either way (She thinks my card obsession is a little thick).

Had me sitting up straight and looking forward though.

Yeah, that sort of horror story is what has me on edge. Sorry to hear that happened to DW.

I have a long history with Chase, including several cards among the large balances, high utilization back in the day. At least two closed card accounts I can recall, one they closed with balance, another I closed stupidly in 2014 when they wouldn’t reduce the APR. Had a 1998 open date, but oh well. Everything is paid off, never a hiccup with any.

I am hopeful the $30k CSP and Freedom auto CLI, plus the Marriott and Hyatt in 2015 mean we are friends again, but the way Chase gets moody, who knows.

No other new accounts since January 2018, AMEX has been feeding my SUB jones with upgrade offers this year.

I hope it is a good outcome for you! Seems like you are in a good position to use the card well from what you said. I can see why it would be nerve racking though, knowing you just closed the Hyatt and have to wait now on an answer. I'll be looking out for your "Approved with nice limit" post!

Fingers crossed I want this card so bad, but chase is anal, it also doesn’t help some sleazy collection company is on my credit report for 60 dollars for 5 years now.

My experience was the opposite. I was able to pc my old Hyatt
card into the new World of Hyatt card with no hassle at all. They disclosed
that my new annual fee would be $95, and said the account number
would stay the same, and that I could keep using the old card until
I'd received and activated the new one.

Yes, a PC certainly would have been possible, but I want the SUB
I had the Hyatt for nearly four years, so am eligible for the SUB again.

No HP, no indication of progress yet ( no active application when I check on line ) so I sent a SM to Chase to ask if they have an app in the works.

Got the letter today. Denied because I already have a Hyatt credit card, and Incase I forgot, it ends in xxxx.

That explains no HP.

I closed the old Hyatt a few weeks ago, but apparently not long enough time to clear the cache of Chase’s memory.

Now to see what my SM response is.

With Chase I've usually let things cycle roughly ~45 days. I was going to suggest waiting a bit, but you had already pulled the trigger.

So, maybe try again in 30 days?

Yes, at this point I have two options.

There may be quicker action after the SM gets to someones desk, perhaps an application will happen. Or not.

That leads to waiting as the second option. I already earned Explorist status through Jan 2020, so I'm set for the typical benefits of Hyatt anyhow. I also have a bunch of UR points ready to deploy to Hyatt, or potentially upgrade to CSR and use more directly for booking.

So fundamentally there's no rush to get the card. But I do like the free nights and earnings. And it is not certain how long this SUB will be around.

Lost out on the bonus. I should have waited longer than a few days before apping, because their records did not yet reset me out of the card.

The SM reply gave me a number to call, which I did and used the denial reference number on the letter that was mailed. The CSR told me I am ineligible for the bonus, but that’s a missed opportunity on my part for not waiting long enough. In actual fact it has been more than 24 months since I got the bonus.

So I requested re-opening the card, then PC to the new World of Hyatt card. My problem is, I really like the card benefits and would rather continue through a PC, than risk further issues by waiting longer to reapply after they forget about me, and risk not getting it back at all. I know it is irrational but that’s where I am.

Score, Chase 1, NRB 0.

So this changes my card apping plans slightly. I will consider bringing the United Explorer into the mix, since I have an open slot in 5/24 now. Was resigned to not being able to get that one, but it gets closer to possibility now.

Moral of the story, If you want to swap Old Hyatt for New Hyatt, don’t be like NRB. Follow the advice to wait 45 days before reapplying.

Exactly what I learned in letting things cycle so I wouldn't fall into the same situation given how long it takes them to update their internal system information.

Nonetheless, glad you were able to reopen it and PC to the new version. Unfortunately, given 5/24 and 48 month SUB restriction on some of their CCs, has me holding on to everything from Amazon, Ritz, Marriott, IHG, Hyatt, to FU, SW, United, etc. Yes, a true Chase packrat 😁 They'll have to pry them out of my cold dead hands!

The moment I step forward it feels like a 5/24 minefield! 😄 so, I simply let sleeping dogs lie. The only one that I might go for here soon (more Guinea pig than anything) is AARP. So we'll see.

The United Explorer is a pretty decent product.

Yeah, that minefield is one of my concerns.
I got the 50k CSP in January. Have not shown them that is safe yet by paying the AF or PC to CSR.

Closed the Marriott a couple months ago, then found it was not something I could reapply for after getting the Upgrade bonus on SPG.

I have 150,000 UR, and the Trifecta.

So the worst case scenario by waiting and pushing for this bonus would be they go to manual review in a Hyatt app and decide to shut it all down. First World Problem but I hope to avoid that.

I was in the same spot with Marriott and having Ritz as well. I pondered about SPG, but then things changed in August (train left the station) and I had to pass up on SPG's SUB. That little SPG/Marriott matrix killed the dream lol 😄

So, I left the spot open for the biz Marriott instead, but now since it appears mostly everything falls under 5/24 I'm not sure whether the latter also falls under the same restriction. I usually come up for air (Chase apps) every other year to avoid any scrutiny and possibly AA. That manual review can trigger at anytime, especially more so these days. Pass! 😂
