It seems to me that a lot of creditors like to pull EX. I will just have to keep getting cozy with NFCU for now!

Hi All!

I really wanted the Citi DC as my last card before I escort myself to the garden for a long time because I could benefit from the 2% cash back. I looked on the credit pills database and others reported that EQ was pulled in NJ. I did notice though on the forums that everyone mentioned a HP to EX. So I purposely didn’t unfreeze my EX report because I have a crap ton of inquires mostly because of two car purchases in the past 2 years (first one was stolen). I’ve read that they’re inquiry sensitive so I didn’t want to waste another HP on a definite denial. Apped for the DC and was auto denied then I got an email from EX saying they blocked an inquiry.

My question is, does anyone have experience with them being willing to pull another bureau?

Citi requires the EX pull.

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/which-credit-card-issuers-will-approve-an-application-with-a-frozen-credit-report/#Citi

Citi DC is probably out of reach for you (they denied me after pulling TU and EX), maybe check the PayPal Cashback. It’s a Synchrony card and offers the same 2% cash back.

When I applied for the Costco visa, Citi pulled eq and ex, so the only other option

would be tu.

@Saeren thank you for that link its extremely helpful! It will probably be another year before my inquiries are up to par so I will probably hold off on applying for anything. I will look into PayPal approvals to see if I have a shot.

With a 643 TU, you should have a shot but I can’t guess at what the CL would be. Sync has been soft pulling EX or EQ (they SP EQ for me) in addition to a TU HP lately so if you go for it, make sure all three are unfrozen (Synchrony has issues SPing when reports are frozen - I had to thaw my TU for them to be able to start my FICO score monitoring and every time I ask for a CLI) but the most likely HP is TU.

NFCU is fantastic for growth but they are HP happy too. I have 2 on TU and 3 on EQ from them.

@Saeren may I ask what your scores were when you were approved for your PayPal card? I wish Navy offered more than the 1.5 CB. I’m not good with cards with points I just get confused lol

Navy’s Amex is a 3/2/1 card. It has a $50 minimum redemption for cash back but otherwise it’s pretty straightforward.

I was approved with a 706 TU because I had just gotten some negatives removed via the EE process which got me an $8K SL on the PayPal card, however, there are people around your score that got approved, even if it was $300 or $700, Synchrony cards tend to grow rapidly (the PayPal DPs suggest they don’t tend to grow until the 5th month generally).

With a 652 TU less than 2 weeks before I went for the PayPal, Sync instantly approved me for $1800 on the Amazon Prime Store Card for some reference.

Honestly I just looked at your cards and I think you should just park it in the garden. You’ve got a great deck of cards for rebuilding. I would just let things age now.

2% is not much more than 1.5% in the grand scheme of things and if you hit up the Member Mall with NFCU, you’ll get your 1.5% cash back plus a minimum of 1% additional for any affiliate links you follow from the store.
