It’s alright! I knew Chase was a tough one to get into. I just didn’t think they would gloss over my 100% payment history on all my other accounts and only look at my credit account with capital one and my charge off with WF. I suppose they believe I’m a thin file in that aspect.

Sorry abou the denial, OP.

If your signature is up to date, you do have a thin file and with CO present, it's a tricky combo. Makes it harder for computer to determine how you'd handle multiple accounts.

I dont know where you are 5/24 wise, but I'd grab another card or two depending on your needs, let them age and build positive payment history. Chase will still be there later.

I would take care of that charge off although only a year old they certainly can collect on it in most states for 7 years and as it gets closer to that 7 years the more likely they will slap you with a judgement. Although Chase might not of cared, it can hurt you alot more later than it is already doing now.

Chase probably could care less on 100% payment history. They focus more on 5/24, profitability, and thicker profiles.

And I have one standard card but I’m also an AU on that card and lastly an installment loan these are all current. Would my file be considered thin?

Yeah, I dealt with the charge off when I knew less about negotiating it. I was able to work with Wells Fargo to not let it go into collection and get it to “paid charge off.” So it’s just closed at this point and not reporting. Ultimately, a store card in which you can only pay through an employee access portal is a bad choice my friends. Paying it becomes a hassle. Especially when you don’t work there anymore and don’t have access to that portal.

I have come a long way since then thankfully. Chase will take me some day! A lot of other people to work with until then!

Yeah, Chase really seems to not want to be in the starter card business. I'd say that if you profile and income can support it, try getting some starter friendly cards that are known to increase CLs quickly. AmEx, Discover, Sync may all be good options in that regard. Once you start fattening up your available credit and credit file give it another 3-4 months and you can probably hit up Chase again if you really want the card.
