Resident vs mailing address

Hey all! Completely new to this forum and I’ve tried to search for my answer and cannot find it so... my question is, I applied for a CC and I have a residential address and mailing address. I already have a secured card with them and put in all the same information. Time has elapsed and I am ready to get an unsecured one. I applied and then they emailed me to upload my DL & I’m confused what exactly they’re wanting to see on it? My DL shows my residential address because and I just recently had to add a mailing address. I updated everything on the secured card adding my mailing address. I don’t wanna mess anything up I’ve worked hard to get my score where it is. I don’t want to upload my DL if I need my mailing address on there when I already submitted it to DMV over the internet. If I’m not making sense sorry. Hope someone can help me here! Thank you.

Are both physical addresses or is one PO Box?

Most applications have " No PO Box" language already there to be compliant with Patriot Act. Issuers want verifiable addresses.

Your drivers license should have the address where you actually live and so should the issuer.

Some applications have secondary address field where you could put your mailing address.

If you've previously notified them of both physical and mailing address, you should be fine.

Welcome to the forums!!

Resident address is your physical address, and address stated on your DL.
Mailing address is where you want your mail/documents mailed too. It can be a different physical address or a PO BOX.

When you apply, you need to apply with your resident address, and then you can always change it later to a mailing address.

They may want to confirm your DL to what address you put on the app. Its a verification thing.

Thanks so much! I put my residential address as reported and my mailing address as reported so I’m going to upload my info it has my residential address on it and that’s what I was wanting to know, is that what they want to see! So thank you!

Thank you for this information!! My residential address matches my DL and that’s what they want me to send in. I was just confused because I had zero issues with the secured card and now this! So I should be fine uploading it with my residential address on it correct? Thank you in advance! You guys rock here!

Oh and no PO BOX, it did allow me residential and mailing address just confused why upload but I’ll do it!

Yes, you should be fine because address on file matches address on ID.

Don't stress request for ID documents. They are common these days and it might be they are just making sure it's really you who applied.

Oh WOW!!! I’m truly amazed by your turn around in your credit score! Not sure if the correct place to ask about this but I need to help my son. The way I did it took quite a while! Seems like you got yours up there within a short amount of time! Would you mind sharing what you did please?

Thank you for the post in regards to hacking! My mind really didn’t even consider anything hacking wise even after reading the post I am not worried... however, I do see your point, not everyone is like me in regards to that and could possibly read that and get nervous. This has been an awesome experience!! Thank you!

I saw your other post about needing to help your son. I suggest you start a thread, describe his situation, what you're looking to do for him, and see what kind of responses you get.

If possible, include cards he has (if he has them), scores, their age, any baddies on his CR etc.

I am fairly certain you'll get some good advice

Awesome thank you!!! I’ll have to have him send me his CR because I’m the one that helped him mess it up so I’m desperately trying to make it right! Would I just post it here or find the appropriate thread? I didn’t even post what cards I have like I see everyone else doing 😬 oops I’ll get around to that today!

Start a brand new thread for him.

If you need advice for yourself also, that would be another separate thread.

That way we can stay on topic, confusion free.
