So I finally decided to give up on Penfed.. Because it's quit obvious they don't like my profile.. Lol

So I joined Navy federal and I applied for the credit card.. And it wasn't the flagship I saw here that's a hard one to get fresh out the gate.

But I got the 5-7 message.. But none of my reports were pulled. Should I have waited a few days before applying for the credit card?

Also can anyone tell me which credit bureau they pull?

My current scores are as follow.. Trans 700 Exp 687 EQ 766 These are my fico scores

Thanks in advance

I have a old student loan that's keeping my Trans and Ex score dow which is now paid off.. But it does have some lates. (this is my only baddie)

Disco 1,184/6500

Disco 0% of 1350

Uber Visa0% of 3500

target 0% of 2600

walmart 133/3000

paypal master card 0% of 900

Neiman Marcus 0% of 14,000

Capital one 0% of 9,000 AU

Capita onel 0% of 1350

For New Credit Cards, NFCU uses TU Fico 8 Score.

With your UTL and scores, you should be ok.

NFCU typically pulls TU for new CC apps. It's likely it may be in a pending queue for review, but there are instances in which CMS alerts can be delayed as well (if you are subscribed to any).

Hopefully, it results in a good outcome so just let us know how it goes.

Ok.. If thats the case about them pulling TU for new apps.. Then I see what the issue is.. That report was frozen

I thought they pulled EQuifax like Penfed.. So I'll just wait for the letter to be sure that's the isse.. And see if I could reapply.

Thank you for responding.

Correct. The letter would definitely provide the reason(s).

It's usually a good idea to leave CRs unfrozen for new apps, regardless of CR, since a variety of lenders can pull any of them (just depends on the lender and/or your CR file). For instance, and although very rare, NFCU has been known to pull EX or EQ for new apps, again rare but possible.

By the same token they're known to pull EQ for CLOC applications and EQ or TU for CLIs.

Navy Federal uses all three bureaus. They HP EQ FICO 9 when evaluating auto and lines of credit, HP TU FICO 9 for credit card apps, and they SP EX as well.

They also sometimes mix it up and pull a different bureau from their usual. Like this example where the other reports were frozen so they HP EX when evaluating for a CLI - https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Navy-Federal-now-checks-Experian/td-p/4800125

I personally went and lifted all of my freezes. Both Transunion and Equifax have given me big problems with their online system with Transunion not giving me the ability to manage my freeze for over a week now. Fortunately calling with my PIN worked and I just lifted all of them. I monitor my credit like a hawk so if someone did try to do something stupid, I would be on it before the paperwork was even finished but the credit freezes really are a huge hassle.

Anytime OP! Trust me, I know.

In my experience, due to a previous split file issue with EQ, I figured the CLOC application would error out or be declined. They pulled both TU and EQ (blank file). Once EQ (temporarily) fixed the issue which lasted just a bit longer than the life span of a gnat, the CLOC was approved, but I wasn't aware they'd use TU for that product (and they couldn't use TU, it had to be EQ).

But, with NFCU, what's another HP, right? It's possible I just got hit with another one just by sharing this with you 😉

@ Saeren

Yes I stalk my credit to like a jilted lover who can't let go.. and thankfully so.. I got an alert prior to me knowing about credit freezes. That someone tried to obtain a Verizon Wireless account in my name.. I was able to have the application shut down. However Verizon refused to remove the hard Inquiry that came with it. So when I called Eq about it. They suggested security freeze.. But like you said sometimes it's a hassle to have them removed.

Just 2 days ago they popped me for a TU INQ for an application in an effort to acquire a 3rd card.

If your reports are on ice they had nothing to review to issue an answer either way.

As mentioned typically NFCU goes with TU on new cards. Good Luck on getting in with them and i share your frustrations on PenFed.

NFCU blows them away easy.

Ok.. So I get a call today from Navy federal stating they couldn't access my report. And asked if I was willing to unfreeze.. I did, and they approved me the cash rewards card.. SL 500.00😢.. Lol (grateful I was even approved) I know you have to wait 91 days before requesting a CLI.. My question is .. Is it another HP?
Thanks again everyone.

Well, that's interesting...as far as the SL after unfreezing your CR.

There was a member who not long ago was approved for their 3rd NFCU card with the very same SL.

Well, at least it's an approval. Maybe there's a possibility to have the SL reconsidered by sending them a secured message and state your case? If you do, just be sure to mention if it's possible to review it without incurring another HP... Whoops I think they just hit me with one for suggesting that 😁

Perhaps others can chime and provide some guidance based on your stats.
