Help Strategizing Next Card!

Hello Everyone! I am new to posting but I have been watching and reading the forum religiously the past few months! My current credit profile is a little odd

Discover It: AU ,Age is 1 year 4 months, CL 7500, 1% Uti
BOA Cash Rewards : AU, Age is 1 year 8 months, CL 6000, 3% Uti
PNC Cash Rewards : AU, Age 2 years, CL 10k, 30% UTI
Cap One QS1 : Primary, Age 4 months, CL 300, 5% UTI
Amex Platinum Delta: Primary, Age 61 days, CL 15k ( As of today I just did the 3x CLI and was fully approved 5k to 15k!), 1% Uti

I know my credit is very new but I would like to apply for a credit card that will give me a decent limit so I don’t have to depend on Amex and Cap One which is a very little limit, the cards I am AU on I do not have access to as they were used just to boost my scores which are TU-720 EQ-717 EX-727
I have applied for a couple cards but get denied for too many new accounts or not enough history. What is a good suggestion to apply? I only have 4 INQ total across all 3 bureaus, what else could I do to help look more reliable to companies?

Which cards specifically did you try to apply for and were denied as a result? Would paint a clearer picture on what we can suggest for you so there are no repeats here.

I have applied for BOA cash Rewards, they declined because they couldn’t find credit history on me. I have applied for Discover IT but they declined based on too many new accounts with out enough history, I have also applied for the Amex which was an instant approval for 5k, and then my Cap1 QS1!

I have tried to Pre Qualify for Citi, Chase, BOA, Cap1, and Discover no options come up.

Hmm, the way I see it at the moment is you got several options. Normally I would suggest a secured card but you got unsecured options in CapOne and AMEX right now so no need to hustle backwards persay. One option is you give the two cards you're the primary on a chance to age some. Not ideal I know since you don't want to rely on AMEX with its sizable limit but with your AAoA being three months and the suggestions on banks being declined already it might be the prudent thing and wait at least three more months to get the cards over the six month AAoA. Your scores will increase as the your accounts and inquiries age, and might be able to get prequals to pop up as well. Another option is to start considering local credit unions or banks you already do business with on the savings/checking side for instance. You might be able to go to a branch and find out what options are available to you.

I agree with @simplynoir. This early in the game, your options are limited, and the only strategy that really helps is time. I know it’s frustrating, especially reading posts here, but you’re ahead of the game already. I’m only a year in myself and have come a long way - you’ll get there soon! Good luck!

I’m going to have to agree to wait 6 months or so. Not to sound harsh, but if Discover is saying no, you probably need to age your current accounts a little bit. After a few months, try the prequals again. An It card would be a fantastic addition. Good luck!

Go to BBT.COM and do their prequal. Pick your card if offered. The entire process is a SP so nothing to lose

Unfortunately I am not in a state that offers BBT products. I am in Michigan!
