Missing Cards on AMEX Applications Page

When I have gone to check for preapprovals, Cash Magnet (which I'm looking into as a non-category card) and the BCE are both missing for me. Before, even the BCE was appearing. (i.e., Now only 16 out of 18 cards appear.)

Is this more of a suggestion based on the cards you already have and what AMEX thinks may be more appealing to me? Is anyone else seeing this? It seems kind of algorithmic.

May be a silly question to be asking, but it's interesting at least.

Have you been trying to apply for them and keep getting denied? Sometimes amex will remove cards for 2-3 months.

It's A) you have a Gold card B) not incognito C) clear your cookies

If you go incognito you should be able to see all of them and get a higher bonus as well.

Amex's website is dynamic. If you've recently applied for a card and were denied, or Amex thinks you're otherwise unqualified for a card it will not show up when you attempt to view "All Cards."

Just out of curiousity, what is your current Experian FICO 8 score?

I've experience this myself (I have no AMEX cards), but only when I was looking up the AMEX website through a search engine. When I clicked on one of the links, I noticed that a couple of the cards weren't showing up. I was able to avoid that by typing in the website directly on my browser.

Experian is 657 as of last refresh.

I have app'd for the BCP and Magnet maybe 4 months ago and was denied, but never the BCE. Makes sense, though, that prior denials would remove that option once signed in.

That's not always the case. I went for the gold card a couple of times last year and they removed it from the list. Going to their site when not logged in shows the card. Incognito as well. The moment I logged in, it becomes unavailable. I researched and found that sometimes amex will remove the card, almost as if to stop you from applying, and it will return in about 3 months. Sure enough, it returned 3 months later.

When you are logged in and checking to see if any cards will show pre-approved when attempting to "apply now", if the card is not there it means you are not pre-approved and should probably wait a couple of months until it shows. You can always apply while logged out but will get HP, if it's sitting there when pre-approved its a SP approval. if it says extend membership its a HP for approval also. you can check this topic it has good info on that.

Amex considers the BCE, BCP, and Cash Magnet as part of the same family of revolving credit cards. Given that you were recently denied for the other two cards it stands to reason that they have determined you're not currently qualified for the BCE and removed it from your view.

You will need to get your EX FICO 8 score up to at least 670 to assure you'd be approved for one of Amex's core revolving credit cards. While it is possible to be approved with a lower score, you're likely to be given a $500 or $1,000 starting limit or even enrolled in Amex's version of "credit steps."

That's not entirely accurate. Being unable to view a particular Amex card does not just mean you're not pre-approved; it means that in Amex's view you don't currently qualify for the card (its possible to be qualified for a card and not have a pre-approval). That status will eventually change as Amex soft pulls the OP's Experian report.

Also, the OP is already an Amex member with a Gold charge card so even if they applied without logging in, their membership will be detected as soon as the application is submitted and it will be denied.

All of this is really more for educational circumstances than anything. I'm not looking to apply for anything immediately (I'll definitely want to get into the Delta or Hilton cards later down the road, but that'll be some time. However, I do check pre-approvals every so often just to see what's up, and this was interesting to me. I'm chilling out on the apps for the time being just to show AMEX I'm responsible and whatnot.

It's very interesting what you can see on that page, for example it asks if I want to upgrade to Platinum (which I don't at this time in life) if I'm not logged-in and it's just going off cookies. Then it removes the upgrade request option when I log in. I kind of want to ride them out and not clear cookies for a while, just to see how that AMEX page continues to develop. It may be a bit trival, but it's it's kind of interesting learning this page.

I appreciate everyone going over this with me. Again, it's interesting and smart with how they operate dynamically like they do.

Eh, I don't know about that. I think it's more what you'll likely be approved for. My 3 recommendations are always Hilton, platinum, green, and Delta blue. Platinum and green get swapped all the time. If anything, with my spend, they should be offering the gold, but I can't get one. Probably because I burned them on one. And no, for anyone wondering, the scores in my sig are not up to date.

If it dont show, i go incognito mode. who is Amex to tell Me what Card I need?

If I see it and it Fits, I just Cold App. I have only had (1) HP from Amex in 35+ years.

I don't know what the reason for this is either. When I view cards it shows 14 including the cards I already have. As to Pre Approvals, this isn't the case because I go to Incognito mode and apply for the Bonvoy, which doesn't show if logged in, it asks me to sign in after I input info and wham, pre approved, Magnet, Blue Preferred too which do not show on my page.

What does the pre-approval actually look like? Anyone have screenshots? I select the prequalified offers button and three cards populate but it is just a list below that. The three do not seem to be pre-approved either. I just got my first card with them so I know I wouldnt have any by now, and not looking to app at all for quite awhile, but I wanna know what to look for when they do show up.

Ohhhhh thats what it looks like thanks for asking macedwar. I kind of wanted to know what to expect when it actually give me some love and preapprove me. I finally cross 707 ex and 696 tu and 670 eq. and still no preapproval. i guess this bk dismissed 3.9 years still killing me. and i just wont app untill i see a preapproval. too scared to get that hp. anyway thanks finstar.

Now, just to provide some clarification, the image is what displays when you click the apply button when logged into an AmEx online profile. But, it sounds like you don't have any AmEx accounts just yet, correct? I personally haven't tried the external pre-qualify link so maybe someone else can confirm if it looks similar.

Did you IIB AmEx by any chance? If not, then there's hope after your BK has aged 5+ years.

I see what you are saying. and no i never had amex card yet. but thats my ultimate goal. I have gone to that preapproval page quite a few times in the last 5 or 6 months. No go at that station still. Like i said i crossed into the 700s on my scores. still no go. 26k cl. 17 percent util. dti is right at 58% only baddie is the **bleep** bull crap fake bk i did in 2016 jan. that i dismissed and took care of business.
